94-year-old upset by TSA pat down

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A 94-year-old wheelchair-bound Florida woman says a search she went through at Raleigh/Durham International Airport went too far. Marian Peterson said it happened July 6 as she went through a TSA security checkpoint before boarding a flight home. Peterson said she was selected for extra screening. First, security officers lifted her out of her wheelchair and helped her stand in a full body scanner. Then, she was given a physical pat down. "They took me to one side and they patted me down, and they made me stand for, with my arms out, for over 10 minutes," she said. "I was beginning to feel that I wasn't going to be able to continue to stand, I was going to fall down or something." "I asked, I said why are you doing this, and the woman was very polite and said 'I don't know, maybe the scanner detected something or maybe she moved,'" recalled Peterson's daughter Marian Malone. Peterson's family said it's not just the length of the search they object to, it's the way it was done. "She said it would be in-depth. She started the putdown, and at that point, she asked mom to spread her legs. She stood there with her legs spread and she checked every place thoroughly," said Malone. "They groped her. All of her body. Her crotch, her breasts. And everything else," said son Joe Peterson. The Petersons said the search seemed unnecessary given Marian's obvious age. "I didn't think I was much of a threat to anybody," said Marian Peterson. "My sister had even asked them, you know, what did she do? Why are we doing this? What's going on here," said Joe Peterson.

The TSA needs to be abolished. A bunch of high school dropouts cant figure out that a 94 year old lady in a wheelchair isn't going to hijack the aircraft. If the passenger had been a 20 year old Arab male, he would have been waived through because "we dont want to offend the Muslims." The TSA has never caught a real terrorist. Never! The TSA is an example of government incompetence at its worst. We have sacrificed too much of our freedom and dignity just to get on an airplane. People need to contact their Congressmen and have the TSA abolished and replaced with private security that does Israeli style profling, and will leave innocent Grandmas alone.

Even I can’t say “exempt 94-year olds” because then that’s whom terrorists would use, perhaps unwittingly, to sneak bad stuff through security. What bothers me is that we don’t give ANY extra attention to young adult males from predominantly HATE THE USA countries.

Once they get their union, they’ll have guaranteed jobs for themselves and their grandchildren long after air travel has gone the way of the stagecoach.

Because the acts of terrorism on airlines has been at the mostly due to the Muzzies, whom the Left adores, the Left feels the need to spread the blame equally among all of the flying public. Do you just love equality?

In Israel if you are an Arab and/or Muzzie you automatically get all of your belongings searched at the airport and get patted down and get the third degree with questions. Jews on the other hand just get a few questions.

THe TSA is all about getting Americans used to being treated as suspects and being unconstitutionally searched and seized for merely travelling. the fact they waive through those that God-given common sense says fits a suspicious security profile and search 94 year old wheelchair bound white women is proof. They want to put TSA EVERYWHERE - malls, bus stations, ships, trains. More proof.

You can’t buy or sell without the mark. Trusted Traveller. Soon to be Trusted Citizen. Right here in the back of my hand.

You are absolutely correct. The purpose of the TSA is to condition the future slaves to being treated like cattle. Unfortunately, it seems to be working.

My last trip they put me through the body scanner - the one where you “assume the position” like a common criminal - while the muz female in front of me went through without having to remove her headgear. I said, “Why doesn’t she have to take off her hat?” No answer. I repeated the question, louder this time. The TSA turds studiously ignored me.

I hate the TSA. I hate what is happening to this country. Further comment would be obscene, profane, or simply rude.

It’s not “working.” It has already worked. Everyone is so worried about feeding their families that they don’t have the energy or courage to stand up for their rights. It’s done.

In a real America, inhabited by real Americans, the current security procedures would have been overthrown in 10 minutes. Instead they have gotten more and more onerous.

And we - meaning I - DO NOTHING. Just another sheep. Oh, I frown, and grimace, and glare - but I DO WHAT I AM TOLD.

Sad.

...have the TSA abolished and replaced with private security that does Israeli style profiling...

Never happen.
The airlines happily gave up screening because of ,1..the employee expense, and 2..the primary expense, lawsuits in the event of a terrorist slipping through and making good on a threat.

And then we have PCness, patting down every 5th passenger or similar, regardless of observation. Have to have a 'mix' of segments of society instead of concentrating on the likely group.
Shear stupidity.

I live pretty much in the center of the country and I’d drive my car to any point in the country before I’d fly.

I realize that’s not practical for some but it works for me.

Yes forget the concept of security. The TSA has nothing to do with security. Its all about control. Meet the Civilian National Defense Force in training. You may be facing them down in the streets some day soon.

The TSA is beginning to act like the harassment of citizens by the Brownshirts of Nazi Germany.

Do we want this type of activity to continue in the name of (false) security?

Duplicate? This exact thread has been appearing for years. Same TSA outrages, same comments. Everyone knows their places.
