Obama is losing this debate. In general and on points. Big time.
That's my opinion. I base it on my educated hunch, 6 decades of life, of how people react to what is happening now.
When Obama claimed he could not guarantee SS checks, he lost it forever. He became the pessimistic bearer of what to many people is equivalent news of their imminent death. Like a once trusted Doctor who says I have no idea what's going on with you but you are likely to die.
He got EVERYONE'S intense, fully aware, fully committed attention.
He simply can not survive that kind of attention.
Reagan could and did. Reagan was an optimist with obvious faith in his fellow humans.
Obama has now shown himself to be a faithless pessimist. Not the Doctor one can tolerate in this circumstance.
Obama will not make it to the 2012 election.
So what? Doing the right thing is rarely popular.
I think, if the GOP were to start calling attention to the "spending addiction" it casts in a negative and psychologically harming tone. "We would like the President cure his, and his party's addiction to spending." "If I had a child addicted to spending like the President, the last thing I would do is enable him or her by giving her a higher limit on the credit card." and keep hammering!!
