The word is that Jason Chaffetz ( who is also a Mormon by conversion) is likely to take him on. If it works like replacing Bennett with Lee did last election, the whole matter will be done quickly at the State GOP convention. The Party just didn’t renominate Bennett, and they should do the same to Hatch. Hatch and Lugar (the evil twins) have been in the Senate exactly the same length of time, 35 years! You would think that anything of value that they might have contributed would have been done years ago. I for one, am tired of 80 year olds remaining in the Senate until they are carried out no matter how good they might have been at one time.
Jason Chaffetz was Jon Huntsman’s campaign manager, and chief of staff. My spidey/viking kitty/reality radar just keeps sending me exception errors. Maybe he’s found the Constitution, maybe he’s found what makes America the shining beacon, or maybe he’s found what kept Orrin on the golden 1.5 gallon throne.
I don’t know. I just do not trust Chaffetz’ history. He may have us at heart, he may (as politicians have an inward wont) be looking at being set as U.S. Senator, with all its glory and pontification and did I mention glory, not to mention the genuflection of the local adoring faithful...
OTOH, I know he’s seen the inside of a Walmart. I just don’t know the motives behind his quite electable face. That’s the issue for me. Sorry, I just don’t trust him. Can’t say why. Don’t.
OTOH, Bill Clinton talked a good talk. Soereto reads a good talk. Jason has walked the walk since he’s been there, but within the same time frame, so has Orrin, having seen his junior senator Bennett put to pasture.
I’d rather Chaffetz than Hatch run against Matheson. I’m concerned, comma, however, and I fear that I may refer to this post in the future.
Hey, how bout that Huntsman! KSL runs every damned thing they can find on their NBC feed about the fool... mostly because his dad is one of the finest people on the planet. I’ve met senior, and have met few of his caliber. Sad that junior turned the way he did... an extreme fail version being Ron Reagan Jr.
Jon Jr is a good man. He should quit squandering daddy’s legacy. He should take up pottery or farming, or maybe establishing chemical plants in far off lands. Far off...
