Bush had one year with a balanced budget, and would have had more, if not for Iraq and Katrina. AND Pelosi taking over the purse strings in 2007 and 2008. Bush's problem was that he hardly used the veto pen. He could have stopped a lot of this insane spending -- but deep down, he was not bothered by the spending.

Yes, he could have, but it would have been nice if our Congress, either party, could stop coming up with new ways to spend money.
