Conservative provocateur James O'Keefe has his digital alms bowl out. He says his non-profit group "needs $30,000 RIGHT AWAY" to finish his latest sting operation that he claims "dwarfs anything Project Veritas has exposed to date."
His attacks on ACORN, Planned Parenthood, CNN, and NPR had varying degrees of success in taking down their targets or coming up with evidence to back his rhetoric. So who's next on his list? Government employees.
"I can't reveal all the details yet, but I can tell you that we have evidence of government employees gladly offering public assistance to individuals representing themselves as drug smugglers and members of a terrorist group," O'Keefe wrote in a teasing email to supporters.
"The worst part is that this fraud isn't isolated or even hidden. It's nationwide and it's out in the open," he writes.
Of course, O'Keefe has over-hyped his investigations in the past. He called his story on George Soros giving money to NPR a scoop even though that has been widely reported and edited an undercover video to show an NPR fundraiser in a more negative light.
O'Keefe's email on behalf of Project Veritas, which was recently granted non-profit status, says they'd use the cash to complete production on their report and "refill our nearly exhausted bank account." Back in March, O'Keefe was asking for $50,000 to cover 'major credit card debt', and the group raised just $2, 367 in 2010.
Now O'Keefe is promising supporters he'll mention them in the credits of the video when it is released if they give over $50.
"Everything we've built is on the line, but I know I can count on you to step up," O'Keefe writes. "With your help, we'll finish production and break what promises to be our biggest story yet."
O’Keefe took down ACORN. Of course the left is going to try to smear him.
and NPR execs....
You have to take the good with the bad with O’Keefe. You can’t let him get to close to you, because of his demonstrated lack of judgement.
Both - O’Keefe’s the only ‘investigavtive’ reporter we’ve got. He’ll grow out of some early mistakes - he’s worth backing.
This reminds me of Judicial Watch in the Clinton Years... lots of hype, little substance.
Breitbart.
One of these mutts was found with a permit allowing him access to the WTC's sprinkler systems.

* my opinion...
Bachmann exposé the same as Okeefe’s?
Let’s not have double standards. The Okeefe/Breitbart videos lied by editing.
The Bachmanns have lied visibly on tape.
They may have personal views, buy lying is not acceptable.
When has O’Keefe demonstrated a lack of good judgment?
I can’t believe HOW much our side owes this guy.
Hey how many YOUNG aggressive conservatives are there in the new media?
VERRRRY few and we need to encourage them —that hot girl who helped him, too.
I love these guys.
The story is from Talking Points Memo. They make the old Soviet Pravda look fair and balanced.
Which O’Keefe videos? Certainly not the ACORN videos.
