This plan will fail in the House.

Obama will assert that he has the authority to extend the debt ceiling under the 14th Amendment. I bet he has a team of Constitutional lawyers preparing a barrage of briefs to throw at Congress at a moment’s notice.

Obama will raise the debt ceiling by Executive Order and then tell Congress to take it to the SCOTUS if they do not like his call.

The Republicans will go along with this and we will end up with a bunch of “closed loopholes” and fewer “corporate welfare” subsidies that Obama will claim as tax hikes.

Oh, well....

“Obama will assert that he has the authority to extend the debt ceiling under the 14th Amendment.”

Why not force him to do it before caving in? Obama could be bluffing and will never have the guts. If Obama really does it and the Supreme Court lets him get away with it, Congress could pass a debt limit extension at any time.
