I’ll refer you back to an earlier post by Liz, that describes a Rick Perry before he got bigger aspirations and became more politically savvy: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2742640/posts?page=67#67 .

Rick Perry, the Mosque, and his agreement with Muslims
from The Ismali

Austin, Texas — At the invitation of Texas State Governor Rick Perry, Mawlana Hazar Imam traveled to Austin yesterday to sign an Agreement of Cooperation between the State of Texas and the Ismaili Imamat.

During the visit, Hazar Imam and Governor Perry also held talks at the State Capitol on a range of issues of mutual interest.

Describing the importance of the agreement, Governor Perry explained that “traditional Western education speaks little of the influence of Muslim scientists, scholars, throughout history, and for that matter the cultural treasures that stand today in testament to their wisdom.”

Here’s the “Diversity Governor” with members of ACORN.

Perry endorsed 2008 Giuliani AND Perry partnered with RINO Rudy Giuliani
(persona non grata on Free Repub) to build the Trans-Texas Corridor...

He has been a fair weather conservative. I think his past actions and decisions have clearly established that.

Having said all that, I like Perry personally. We just need someone with integrity and a stronger hand.

Other, better choices? I have to admit I’m pretty disheartened right now. I like Cain, Bachmann (maybe), and....can’t think of anyone else. But, then I think We The People have got to pull this nation out of the fire, and even Superman couldn’t lead us out right now.

Thanks for the response. Who will be the eventual winner no one knows at this stage. I just hope it is someone that enough voters can support to at least get Obama out of the WH. I really don’t think a lot of the hits/dispargments that the candidates take here are necessarily what the populace at large would take as serious. I don’t know that, jmo.

Yes I have heard all that. I have not selected a candidate yet, from the ones who are running or the ones who have not declared yet. I see qualities I like in Perry, Palin, Cain and Bachman. There are several I do not like Romney, Paul especially. But I want to vote for the Republican candidate and do not advocate a 3rd party.
