Let’s get real. Pitbulls can be dangerous when they are in the wrong hands, whether it be that the person is abusive or because the person is too weak-willed to handle that sort of breed.

It does mostly come down to a person’s ability.

“Pitbulls can be dangerous when they are in the wrong hands..”

Is there a dog that cannot? That’s “getting real”. And you are right — owner responsibility ALWAYS.

Some dogs are easier to handle than others. Labs and Retrievers are almost impossible for normal people to mishandle, though that can still happen.

Other dogs, that require a lot of training and attention require a certain sort of person, one who understands the dog hierarchy and is prepared to be the Alpha, unquestionably.

For me, I love German Shepherds and labs, but I know my strength and know that Canes or Pit terriers would be too much for me.

“They can do reconstructive dental work...”

That would be nice for the dog. To actually be able to eat. If not, we have had some “senior” dogs with missing teeth and we minced up food like you would a toddler or a baby. Rice, minced chicken or hamburger, small slices of steamed veggies... We would even soak the dried kibble dog food in warm canned (low sodium) chicken broth... they can sort of mush it around.

When they opened his mouth to determine his age, they were shocked to see that all of his teeth had been broken or sawed off, indicating that he had been used as a "bait dog" to train juvenile Pit Bulls for fighting.

This is what that POS Michael Vick and his crew did to the pets they stole from people in order to blood his dogs.

I wonder if any of "Sick Vick's" Freeper supporters will show up and defend the practice.

Actually, they can do implants for dogs just like they do for people.

Elderly dogs with missing teeth can cope because their skull bones have fully matured.

At this young age, the dog -needs- his teeth because otherwise, his jaws and muzzle will deform from their natural shape.

I’m sure he already has drool problems without properly meshing teeth.

This is just a crying shame and a sin.

We went downtown [I never go there alone...”demographics”] and a young man was briskly walking his pit.

We admired her and he brought her back so we could pet her.

She was the most unusual color pit I’ve ever seen.

Golden with a deeper golden brindle pattern that made her look like Damascus steel, only in a shiny bronze color.

Not a scrape, scratch or scar on her.

Quite a beautiful dog and so well mannered.

*Her* teeth were perfectly white pearls that gleamed in her healthy pink gums.

I was glad for her obvious good care and love and even sadder for this poor dog.

As usual, when I read about a dog’s misfortune, I emotionally compensate by getting mine toys.

Let’s just say that after a stop at PetSmart, Odin had a *very* bountiful birthday....:)

We had a good day away from the sorrow of this world and Odin made out like a bandit with birthday gifts.

I thank God I have my kids and that they’ll NEVER have to suffer like this dog.

Uh oh.

I didn’t make him a cake.

[he’s getting yummy, gory beef hearts for supper...think that’ll suffice?]....LOL

Stories like this make me sick to my stomach.
I rescued a Rottweiler last year from Rural Ga Rottie Animal Rescue.
They got her from Atlanta and we believe she was a rejected bait dog. Part of her tongue is missing and she had many scares all over her body.
Tia doesn’t have a bad bone in her body. She has a wonderful personality, loves all people and gets along great with my other dogs and cats.

There are actually Freepers who support that demon?

This place can be really creepy, sometimes.

Yeah.

When I’m out in the kitchen, all blood-soaked from slicing it up for him, “YUMMMM YUM!!!” is exactly what I’m thinking.

[not!]

LOL

Do you bring Odin into PetSmart? Dogs aren’t welcome at very many places, but PetSmart is a great place to take them.

Organ meats are WONDERFUL for dogs - so good for their health. Happy B-day to your furbaby! (And to those who have a problem with my use of that term — get over yourselves!!)
