South Korea is profitable because they do not have to spend any money on defense. We provide it for them. In return, they dump their crappy Hyundais in our market and the sheep by them.

I’m pretty sure they spend a fortune on defense because they sell some of it.

South Korea spends plenty on defense. Their government is now conservative after kicking the leftists out. We have drastically reduced our forces there. They want to face down the North more than Obama does. Boo hoo if they are xenophobic and if they have leftist bastards demonstrating just like every other country.

Drumming up anti South Korean sentiment is possibly the worst idea Dennis Praeger ever had. Just maybe he is being a bit “ungrateful”.

And as for South Korea’s “cheap products” they are damn good and South Korea like Taiwan is an important economic ally in Asia.

The South Koreans have the sixth largest military in the world and would defeat the North Koreans eventually. But their capital city is close to the border and could be taken in the initial North Korean zerg rush.

The ROK would rather that not happen, so maintains the US alliance to give whatever megalomaniac running the North reason to reconsider launching the attack. The US troops (about 28,000) are there not for their military value but as an earnest of US intent.

For which the ROK pays the US 1.65 billion USD annually. That's the ROK pays the US.

Actually, since 2008 Hyundai has been remaking their “Hyundai” car brand into a luxury brand and “Kia” as their economy line.

FYi I drive a modded 2008 Hyundai Tiburon GT and not only is the engine phenomenal but the interior is leather bucket seats, etc. Clutch sucks but the new genesis clutch is a “suicide clutch”.

The “crappy Hyundai” no longer applies to the brand as it is today.
