I expect you didn’t have a lot of hope it would generate a substantive response...

I have no illusions about the depth of corruption of the Obama regime. I fully expect them to brazenly violate the law at will, and I have generally not been surprised by their actions.

However I have seen instances in the past (for example, with the FCC or the EPA or both IIRC) where Federal agencies have had their pee-pees whacked by the courts for enacting regulations while completely ignoring legitimate public comments. So I have at least some hope that it remains possible for the courts to rein in the Obama thugs.

That's why, in support of that goal, I sent in my comments. In the right hands, they will serve as ammunition to help torpedo the ATF's power grab (with apologies for the mixed metaphor)...

It was for the same reason that I submitted reply comments to the ATF's recent attempt to ban the importation of certain shotguns while illegally broadening the interpretation of what makes a firearm suitable for "sporting purposes"...

I agree...It is the effort folks like us put in by paying attention, making comments to the right people, and if they don’t respond, and there may be some legitimate reasons for the chirping cricket response, but in the long run we all help supoprt one another here and in doing what we do as individuals to achieve those goals...

They are ALL going to dread the next major election...That’s when it’ll get interesting...

What is bad is I see in the NRA and in some of the state affiliated branches a change in the way the issue is being handled...I see the “hunter” faction taking over most of the responses and actions by the government, and some of those heavy in that faction don’t care much for those of us who are not avid hunters, but buy non-sporting firearms for all the “wrong” reasons as far as they (NRA hunter cadre)are concerned...

And before the aforementioned “hunter” group comes in and crucifies me for having this opinion, let me qualify that by saying, I have seen it, it is a recent change in attitude within the NRA and the state affiliates, and I am not impressed with what I see...

As a non-sporting firearms owner, I have never, ever discounted or lessened the legitimacy of our hunting community and their right to keep and bear arms, but I have seen over the recent years some of that same community champion their rights as hunters, and discounted and de-legitimized the non-sporting firearms community and our desire to keep and bear arms...

Mr. Zumbo comes to mind in that regard...

I just call it like I see it...And I still would go to the mat (even now) for any gun owner, whether they hunt or not...I just don’t see the vigor or activism to protect the overall 2nd Amendment community, coming much from the hunting community these days...

Just my opinion...

BTW, for the record, I am a Life Member of the NRA...

Sorry for the long rant...
