Further down in the story: “A spokesman from the diocese said the diocese approved of the schools decision to return the donation.”
If the Church authorities told the church to return the donation that’s fine. But to use his act of charity to publicly attack the man seems very poor form.

No. He was going were the people were. The senior citizens who need these metrocards are also the only ones (other than me and a handful of others) who attend Mass regularly.
He wasn't in the church, and he wasn't preaching during the homily.
He was going where his constituents were.
I'm sure he was probably by the turnstiles by the "D" train Monday morning rush hour, which is another place he goes.
These things are available. He's trying to help people get them and make them aware of what's out there for their help. I don't know why you're getting overexcited about that.

What I have done in this particular piece of legislation is what I was taught as a Catholic. Well, son, whoever taught you that was WRONG!

You do if youre in my class. :) In mine, as well, since I taught 10th Grade confirmation prep. It was hard to get it through their 'social justice' minds, though, because everything they see and hear in popular culture pushes the notion of 'fairness', and how it isn't right that someone shouldn't be able to marry the one they 'love'.

It’s all there in Matthew, as well as the bit about what marriage truly is about.
It’s like playing dress up. You can wear the scrubs but it doesn’t make you a doctor.

The bishops charge related only to those who SUPPORTED the legislation. Where do you get that it punishes the legislators who were on the bishops [churchs] side? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2746667/posts http://www.39online.com/newsfix/kiah-newsfix-not-welcome-story,0,5841161.story Even though Im being punished for it, I understand where he's coming from, said Senator Marty Golden (R) New York. But is the church going too far? One senator who voted against gay marriage says even he`s unwelcome at the church. It is a little bit aggravating but Im going to have to get over it, said Senator Golden.
