Fort Hood defense has few options

FORT WORTH -- More than two dozen soldiers have testified about the day they were shot in a crowded Fort Hood building in November 2009. Some told of looking the gunman in the eye as he fired. A Senate investigation has announced its findings about the suspect: Before the rampage, the Army psychiatrist had become an Islamic extremist and a "ticking time bomb."
Now the defense team for Maj. Nidal Hasan, who is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder, faces what seems like an impossible task of preventing a conviction and potential death sentence in one of the highest profile cases in military history.
Hasan, 40, who remains jailed and was paralyzed after police shot him that day, could go to trial later this year at Fort Hood, the Army post about 125 miles south of Fort Worth. On Wednesday, Fort Hood's commander ordered Hasan to stand trial after reviewing documents from last fall's evidentiary hearing.
For the defense lawyers, "there are huge challenges in this case -- challenges that may not be present in other capital cases," said Richard Stevens, a military defense attorney who is not involved in the case.

Challenges? LOL, I'll say. If he was insane, then insanity is so indistinguishable from Islam that it was protected under the 1st Amendment until the time he started shooting.
And if he was not insane then what he did is, literally, the teachings of Islam, and so he was just following his religious beliefs.
Choose.
I agree ..he will say he does not want to make a martyr out of him

Prior to hanging, he should be force fed a meal of juicy bacon, and the rope should be soaked in bacon grease before it is put around his neck. The hanging should be slow - not with a broken neck. Perhaps he could live a considerable time while Fort Hood traffic goes by to pay their respects to this jerk!
This cannot be done in a PC institution. Culpability is suffused through the institution both vertically and horizontally, THAT is the nature of an infected institution. There would be no where to stop as the reason for the fault was uncovered and followed. It would go to the very top and sides.
This is why no one ever got into trouble for letting all those Islamist Jihadists use airliners as cruise missiles on 9 11 01. Those guys had to get past a lot of security to do what they did. WHO and WHY? Start asking the pertinent questions of the pertinent people and imagine the obvious answers. From the getgo the investigation would travel up the chain to the very top. How far would “harassing” Arabs and Mohammedans have gotten any of the security guys in his career?
PC is a lie, generally accepted that kills and is then protected. This will continue to be the case up until it facilitates an unimaginable cataclysism; and then it will be corrected...by the survivors.
Hasan is without question guilty of this heinous crime and deserves nothing less than prompt execution. To think that we will have to provide him intensive medical care for decades because of his paralysis as well as pay for his appeals is sickening.
The only defense is to claim he was insane. But I don’t see this working well...the Army gave him top notch evaluations and said he was a top doctor...and it’ll be hard to overcome that “reputation”. If you ask me...the prosecutor just needs to introduce three eye-witnesses and I think the case is pretty much wrapped up. It could be finished in two days.
Being the charitable sort, I would provide this monster with permanent pain relief: A .45 loaded with bullets, conveniently dipped in pig’s blood prior to loading.

Good point. What about the civilian contractor working at Ft. Hood that was killed? Can his murder be tried in civilian court?
should sew him up in pigskin and put him at about 500meters down range for live fire exercise.I have no doubt that Obama would NOT agree to a death penalty for a murderer who was like Obama a Muslim. No doubt Obama would try to find some way to excuse Hasan claiming he has suffered enough already.
General Casey: diversity shouldn'tt be casualty of Fort Hood
NOV 8, 2009 12:07 EST
General George Casey, the Armys top officer, is concerned that diversity will become a casualty of the Fort Hood tragedy.
The religious beliefs of suspect Major Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim Army psychiatrist, have led to speculation about motive in the shooting rampage that killed 13 people.
Im concerned that this increased speculation could cause a backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers. And Ive asked our Army leaders to be on the lookout for that, Casey told CNNs State of the Union.
Asked on NBCs Meet the Press whether Muslim soldiers are conflicted in fighting wars in Muslim countries like Afghanistan and Iraq, Casey said: I think thats something that we have to look at on an individual basis. But I think we as an Army have to be broad enough to bring in people from all walks of life.
The bottom line is the military benefits from diversity, he said.
Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think thats worse, Casey said.”
So there you have it diversity is more important than force protection or the lives of individual service members. These words should light George Casey down to the lowest circle of hell for all eternity. The son of a very distinguished leader who died while commanding the First Cavalry Division in VN this Casey had mostly been known as a very cautious and risk aversive officer intent on never getting athwart of those above him. Obviously he was making his obeisance to BO when he uttered these ineffable remarks.
Just in passing does anyone recall when one of the unofficial slogans of the Army was ‘from the many one’,i.e. our individual personal and regional and ethnic/cultural identities are submerged in serving the greater ‘one’ the nation.
I recommend they cop a plea and hope they use a clean needle this time...
Or one dipped in pig’s blood would be sufficient in my opinion...
That’s most kind of you Wayne. And there is a favor you can do for me. It’s about those periods at the end of the sentences. Mine keep rolling down the page.

If you have a square period, it would be of great help to me.
They should strap him over the muzzle of a large
caliber gun, the Brits knew how to do it.
So it will be until the messengers of the Pedophile Prophet come bearing a nuke or two. Then for a while all bets will be off.
Not sure. If the State of Texas decided to try him, I have no doubt about the outcome.
Obozo will find a way to avoid that, professional courtesy, one muzzie to another.
