This particular wine is made with pinot noir grapes from a very small and highly prized vineyard in Burgundy. It's considered one of the very finest Burgundies. The vintner is one of the top winemakers in the region. The cost of the bottle is so high because these wines are highly desirable amongst collectors and restaurants all over the world, and not much is made.

In other words, supply and demand. A $350 dollar bottle of wine in a fine restaurant can be had for much less from a winery or bottle shop.

I enjoy wines and have some fairly expensive ones, nothing more than $100 however. Most of them I've gotten after tasting them in wineries. When I find a wine I really like, I buy it.
