Stearns Says His House Subcommittee Should Hold Hearings on Planned Parenthood

(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.), the chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, wants his committee to examine a report issued last week by Americans United for Life that raises questions about Planned Parenthood--and possibly hold hearings on the activities of the nation’s largest abortion provider.

“Taxpayers deserve accountability, and the report prepared by Americans United for Life demonstrates egregious abuses of taxpayer funds by Planned Parenthood,” Stearns said in a statement issued last week.

AUL released the 37-page report Thursday and distributed copies to every member of Congress, including Stearns.

<><> The Picower Foundation, one of PP's biggest financiers, was in cahoots with Ponzi thief Bernie Madoff, and was forced to give back $9B that was apparently part of a money-laundering tax evasion deal that got Picower an unlikely 900% return on investment.

<><> PP is also suspected of aiding and abetting underage sex abuse, and suspected of participating in cover-ups----performing abortions on underage teens who were impregnated by older males, and failing to notify authorities. PP clinicians apparently covered up sexual abuse of underage teens by falsifying federal documents in order to receive federal funds for performing underage abortions. That would be classified as govt fraud.

Planned Parenthood is a billion dollar business that rakes in 1/3 of its budget from state and federal govt grants. Congressional Dems interrogated banking, energy, health insurance, tobacco, and oil execs — treating them like serial killers. When will Dems finally vote to defund a corrupt industry that has the blood of innocent, defenseless babies on its hands?

It has quietly approved a plan submitted by an appointee of pro-abortion Governor Edward Rendell under which the new program will cover any abortion that is legal in Pennsylvania.

<><> The high-risk pool program is one of the new programs created by the sweeping health care legislation, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, President Obama signed into law on March 23. The law authorizes $5 billion in federal funds for the program, which will cover as many as 400,000 people when it is implemented nationwide.

<><> “Obama's $160 million in federal funds to PA, will pay for insurance plans that cover any legal abortion,” said Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National RtL Committee. “This is just the first proof of the phoniness of President Obama’s assurances that federal funds would not subsidize abortion — but it will not be the last.”

In February 2004, US Senate candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, sent a fund-raising letter with the "alarming news" that "right-wing politicians" had passed a law (prohibiting doctors from stabbing half-born babies in the neck with scissors, suctioning out their brains and crushing their skulls). Michelle Obama called partial-birth abortion "a legitimate medical procedure. " She urged supporters to pay $150 to attend a fund-raising luncheon for her husband, who she promised would fight against "cynical ploy[s]" to stop it.

BACKGROUND Legislation was presented on the federal level and in various states called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. It stated all live-born babies were guaranteed the same constitutional right to equal protection, whether or not they were wanted. BAIPA sailed through the U.S. Senate by unanimous vote. Even Sens. Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry agreed a mother's right to "choose" stopped at her baby's delivery. The bill also passed overwhelmingly in the House. NARAL went neutral on it. Abortion enthusiasts publicly agreed that fighting BAIPA would appear extreme. President Bush signed BAIPA into law in 2002.

But in Illinois, the state version of BAIPA repeatedly failed, thanks in large part to then-state Sen. Barack Obama. Obama worried aloud that legislation protecting live aborted babies might infringe on women's rights or abortionists' rights.

In 2003, as chairman of the next Senate committee to which BAIPA was sent, Obama stopped it from even getting a hearing, shelving it to die much like babies were still being shelved to die in Illinois hospitals and abortion clinics.

BAIPA passed in 2005.........AFTER Obama left the Illinois Senate.
