I want to know who this "GOP Congressional source" is, because this person needs to be brought up in front of the cameras to repeat this point over and over and over until the message sinks home to the voting public and the congresscritters.
Their fierce insistence on higher taxes is beyond bizarre. After months of demanding ‘clean’ increase to avert economic calamity (default), WH threatens economic calamity (default) unless they get economic calamity (trillions in tax hikes). No wonder these guys are governing over an economic calamity (9.2% & growth malaise), w/ an economic calamity on the horizon (debt explosion as mapped out in president’s budget).
The story is just starting to change from the Republicans insist on no new taxes to Democrats insist on new taxes or they’ll be happy to take us over the cliff of sudden reductions in government spending

If the Democrat Party can no longer tap the public treasury to buy its supporters off, it’s finished. The party of theft and bribery is in trouble.

You've got that right. The Dems have systematically looted America--the financial meltdown in 2008 caused by Franks/Dodd tanked the real estate market and the stock market, resulting in almost incalculable losses to Americans.
Then they passed the stimulus, TARP II, used the auto bailout to ruin bondholders but reward Dem constituencies, rewarded the UAW to keep union dues flowing into their coffers, are using grant money to fund "community organizations" that create phantom voters and spread the wealth.
They pulled Obamacare, a 2,000+ page bill, out of box and it contained the worst loegislation ever seen in history, and crammed it down our throats even though it is unconstitutional and threatens EVERY American.
Since 2007 EVERY spending bill proposed by the President (Bush and Obama) has been INCREASED to outrageous amounts "for the children", again a massive recycling program that benefits Dem organizations.
They use our own money to fund our captivity and to forge our chains.
Now, they intend to tank the economy, but what do they care? They are insulated.
Look at the lawlessness of this Administration--yet the MSM is quiet--hear no evil, see no evil,expose no evil.
And the GOP, if it shrinks from this fight, deserves to be thrown on the ashheap of history like the Whigs.
Whether on purpose or by default, this country is heading toward a violent upheaval, because this present course is unsustainable.And the political class in DC in both parties are to blame.
Again, the concept is to loot America and it citizens of their wealth, reduce us to to third world status,and to prevent America from being in the way of the New World Order.
Ask yourselves why we cannot even protect our own borders; why the TSA considers airplane passengers to be the enemy; why the way out of the present crisis is a massive tax increase when it has been proven that new spending will only make the problem worse.

The Democrats’ “fierce insistence on higher taxes” reveals how little they truly care about this nation’s economic health. It is far more important that money be “redistributed” (forcibly) from the Productive Class to Democrat coffers and constituencies. The only discernible difference between today’s Democrat Party and a 1930s criminal syndicate is that Chicago gangsters had better taste in clothing and women.
