President Obama met with Congressional leaders at the White House on Sunday night to try to revive chances for a $4 trillion deal to reduce the deficit and avert a default on the national debt, a day after Speaker John A. Boehner appeared to dash hopes for any far-reaching agreement that would repair the nations perilous finances.

In the end, several officials briefed on the talks said, ideological differences over a tax overhaul bogged down the bigger deal. Mr. Boehner, they said, signaled a willingness to raise $1 trillion in revenue much of which would have come from the expiration of Bush-era tax cuts for wealthy people.

I do not believe this story from the NY Slimes. All propaganda trying to divide the Republicans.
ANYTHING beyond that is bogus.
Raising taxes during a recession? Oh, whats the use...we’re waisting our breath.
Time for the freshmen to replace the Speaker. At least have a vote of no confidence in the Republican Caucus.
This article is spinning so fast it’s a miracle
one can even read it.
So Boehner didn’t offer to let the Bush tax cuts expire?
LOL .... Maybe so.... but, somebody besides the NYTimes is gonna have to do the talking on this one. It’s worthless.
That is to say wasting our breath.
Boehner didn’t offer any such thing
I’m with you 100%!
The NY Times might as well be renamed Pravda of New York!
This story is from the Democrats’ primary propaganda organ, the New York Times, and so it must be assumed it is a lie. I have little doubt that the reporter’s wink-and-nod “sources” are White House operatives.
Who here trusts the NY Times, especially when they are in full throated panic. Delicious.
Amen!
The budget and moneys spent are to be Congressional discussions/arguments and decisions.
Someone slap Boehner.
The beltway and leftist media are terrified of losing and they are going down. They would like us to be the same. Let’s not hand it to them just yet. Never fall for the Left just because it is posted on FR. I do wonder where the heck our media is on tonight’s many wonders.
In exchange for closing the EPA and Dept of ED?
I hope so!
...but NYTimes is just smearing Boehner. For your pleasure. Enjoy.
I trust Cantor and Kyl to do the right thing. I don’t trust Boehner and McConnell.
