This is some of Obama's Change in action. Government will now define your life for you. You don't own your home, you just pay for it.

What the heck is "suitable live plant material?" Vegetables are suitable? Would they prefer pot? Maybe it the vegetables were in beds without the boxes, it would have been okay. (glad they aren't looking at my front yard, I have vegetables there--lucky for me it's a small town--MANY of us have veggie gardens in our yards)

Her yard looked great, no weeds, no long grass, no rodents...

How ironic---there's Ms. Michelle telling everyone to grow and eat vegetables, and then there's Oak Park telling people it's a crime. Someone needs to get with the program.

It's a Winning The Future Garden.

The city of Oak PArk should be supplying all of its citizens with free fresh garden vege's if they don't like them growing their own.

Typical socialist man made famine. Oh, yeah, they’ll give some a free mortgage for a bit, but for the others, you be damned if you try make ends meet on your own, and the city cops will always look for an excuse to get free property for itself in order to feed their gay prostitutes and other favorite sexual choice squatter pets.

I saw the yard. It was a nice yard.

I don’t see the problem. I think city hall should have tried to meet her halfway and suggest how she could do what she wants to do, but still meet city guidelines.

To Obama’s credit, he’s probably not responsible for this law.

It’s Michigan. She should put a sign in her front yard “Growing Tomatoes for Allah”. They’d probably give her the key to the city.

I wonder if Julie Bass voted the Oak Park Marxists into power?

***You don’t own your home, you just pay for it.***

Right you are AII;)

The creeping Marxism of ‘planned communities’. Buyers beware of all ‘HOME OWNERS’ ASSOCIATIONS’.

Local municipal tyrants have also taken control beyond the sidewalk rights-of-way, are blatantly trespassing on private property by trampling on citizens’ rights. What happened to personal freedom to pursue happiness and fiber?

Oak Park is one on the inner ring suburbs of Detroit (bordering the infamous Eight Mile Road). It is probably 60%+ minority at this point in time. Oak Park should just be happy hers isn't one of the houses falling apart.

To my mind, the actions of the city are clearly unconstitutional. There are no dangerous conditions, clearly none which extends beyond the boundries of her property, and, therefore, the city has no legitimate interest in her actions.

Perhaps these Oak Park tyrants should consult Thomas Jefferson on the appropriate role of government in the lives of its citizens.

I think it is a very attractive front yard. What would Ayn Rand say? She'd say the following;

Did you really think we want those laws observed? said Dr. Ferris. We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.

Julie Bass's Blog:

http://oakparkhatesveggies.wordpress.com/

Found this on a forum:

Please write to the mayor and or the city planner and council people. Let's remember that the idea of front yard gardens is new to some, so having a respectful tone will be beneficial.

Mayor Gerald Naftaly’s e-mail: gnaftaly@att.net
City Planner Kevin Rulkowski’s e-mail: krulkowski@ci.oak-park.mi.us
Council Person Angela Diggs Jackson: adjack@comcast.net Council Person Paul Levine: paul4oakpark@yahoo.com
Council Person Emile Duplessis: duplessis2@aol.com

When you e-mail leave out Mrs. Bass's name, if you don't the e-mail will bounce, at least for the planner. They have set an e-mail filter for her name. If you describe the even in plain words with no name mentioned it will be received.

"If you look at the definition of what suitable is in Webster's dictionary, it will say common. So, if you look around and you look in any other community, what's common to a front yard is a nice, grass yard with beautiful trees and bushes and flowers," he said.

Here's hoping 5 or 10 of her neighbors create gardens in their own front yards, thereby magically making hers "common" and thus legal in this dolt's mind.
