DeMint just said that they are “willing to give the President his increase in the debt ceiling” in exchange for states voting on a balance budget amendment vote, etc.

Then DeMint says we’ve given Obama the debt ceiling increase 3x before and he hasn’t done anything in exchange.

I can’t see why this time will be any different.

What radical regime has ever been stopped by compromisers?

With voters who reason like the Casey Anthony jury, we are in serious trouble.

All of this talk of raising the debt ceiling and budget cuts have just gotten ridiculous. There are no real cuts. Haven’t been and most likely never will be. They are talking about a cut in the rate of increase. What a crock. Can anyone remember the last time our budget was actually smaller than the previous year?

This is the problem with the Republican Party. We don't want an increase in the debt ceiling yet our party is going to negotiate for an increase anyway.

This is like being falsely accused of a crime and the defense attorney ignores the facts and is busy plea bargaining with the prosecution over how much jail time should be served.

Good point.

I believe this election will come down, once again, to the lowest common denominator, and that will be our most easily-swayed ignorant and lazy voters. Folks who vote on feelings and only pay attention the last few weeks. Folks who cannot see the implications and consequences of their votes.

I've seen the tactics of the democrats: Eat the rich, scare the people (Republicans want to cut SS, Medicare, etc), and call their political foes racists.

We've got to counter this. It's the same fight we've been in for years--even generations. The media is on the dems side and the Republicans never challenge them very well. Other than that, we've GOT to come up with a new ground game. Reagan--the Great Communicator, took it directly to the people. Newt and the '94 Repulicans did the same. But we've not done this sucessfully since. Maybe last year, but I'm still upset we blew it by allowing Reid, Boxer, and Frank to get reelected.

My thinking is only Sarah Palin can successfully challenge the MSDNC cabal by going over their heads to the people. If she's not in the race, we're 50/50 at best with any other candidate. Heck, even with her in the race, it may well still be 50/50.

The entire debt ceiling debate revolves around whether Boner will give in to a massive--2-2.5 trillion increase in the debt ceiling or much smaller amounts, and only after requisite cuts in the budget--real not imaginary.

If he goes for the massive amount he is giving the dems that much money to run against us and to me that means he is not stupid but corrupt.
