Isn't it true that Perry added TSA and SC to the call in the first special session? He could have refused to do so, avoiding it entirely. The fact that he added them had the effect of heightening awareness to the issues not just in Texas, but nationwide. I would argue that Rick Perry, more than any other single individual, has brought these two issues to the public's attention. Is that the best way for him to bury issues he'd rather not deal with?

Not much. I think that I heard about it, but it will likely go nowhere (but I hope that I’m wrong).
As to raising awareness...doesn’t matter. Obama talks A LOT about our deficit and debt - that doesn’t mean he gives a crap about reducing them.
