There was plenty of discussion of Wright around here as I recall. I don’t recall specific posters but I do recall it coming up on many occasions. The big difference is that Romney is totally unqualified to be the Republican candidate by his record without ever mentioning his religion while Barry had no record, not even so much as his college transcripts to look at. So, there were fewer things you could point out when making an argument against him to that great mushy middle that ends up actually deciding elections. In the case of Barry, therefore, pointing out the outlandish and unChristian nature of the church he was a member of for so long was appropriate. What else could you show the mushy crowd that was on the record?

Wow! I can't believe somebody wrote this on this site!

Let's first start with the tail end of that statement...[actually I started writing "tale end" vs. "tail end" and realized in this case, either applied}..'cause either way, you've posted a mostly strawman statement!

Are you saying that just because we didn't know if Obama got a "B" or a "C" in a certain college course, that we were somehow lacking a solid "on-the-issues" eval of Obama where we could make a judgment & keep the focus on those issues? (And therefore he was more open to being evaluated by the Sunday morning company he kept in terms of whose shadow he fell while listening to their sermon?) Yes? Really?

Are you saying we didn't have enough "issues" info about Obama from his IL rep years -- a state senator 1997-2004 & a U.S. Senator 2004-2008 -- so sermon-gazing became an allowable "issue" by the FR gatekeepers who otherwise try to fence off "religion?" Really?

And we knew virtually nothing of the way Chicago runs things with its "community organizers" like Obama, so the ad hoc committee to hermetically seal religion from politics let that one pass, after all? Really?

And then onto the most unbelievable part of what you just said: What? You think there wouldn't be -- or wouldn't have been if we're referencing the 2008 campaign -- enough to condemn Obama were we to leave out Jeremiah Wright? How is that some "big difference?"

Here, I'll even take your exact words about Romney & apply them to Obama: The big difference is that Obama is totally unqualified to be POTUS by his record without ever mentioning his religion...

ALL: Does this statement -- applied to Obama -- pass muster, FREEPERS??? Yes? Vehemently NO!?

Now ya wanna 'plain the "big difference" 'tween Obama's & Romney's qualifications here?

Wow! If you were a card-carrying FREEPER member, I'd think it wouldn't surprise me if thousands of them asked you to turn in your card.

Wow! Just wow! The depths posters go to try to explain away their outright hypocrisies!
