I think that’s good news.

Send everyone home for a few weeks.

Captain Stupid is at it again. Never send a crybaby to negotiate with a Marxist.

Pubbies find a real man (or woman) for Speaker before this guy kills us.

I’m unclear on the upshot here. It sounds like Boehner is agreeing to raise the debt ceiling. If he’s negotiated spending cuts, why does he have to raise the ceiling?

If The GOP caves, it signals that Obama has won the 2012 election. This is for all of the marbles and for keeps.

avoid a first-ever default on the nation’s mounting national debt.

It's only default if the scum in Washington decide to keep spending rather than service the debt. Lying hacks.

...still meets our call for spending reforms and cuts greater than the amount of any debt limit increase.”

We do not want and will not have ANY increase Boehner.

This is the only leverage we have.

Cut it all and debate adding back. This business about debating what to cut is a loser.

That is what I don’t understand, unless the “cuts” are some years out, which makes no sense at all.

These people have no clue about what to do. They run this like a widow giving up her savings here and there and weighing in, instead of actually running things.

If the US has not been hit with a red brick in the face under Obama, well, it sure is going to, or, alternatively, it has and it is now suffering from the shock to the brain and is bleeding dead.

Great news. He was about to cave. Word leaked out. Pressure was brought to bear. Boehner wakes up and smells the coffee.

he will sell us out by claiming phony “budget cuts” over 12 years, but won’t touch obamacare, americorp, the commerce dept, the EPA, the education dept, etc. most “cuts” will come from the defense budget and most of those from withdrawl from iraq. it will be phonier than the 100b continuing resolution deal which wound up cutting $500,000.
i thought the tea party new members would put an end to these backroom phony deals and demand bills pass the traditional way with hearings and open votes with amendments. the decline and fall of the american empire continues on course.

Boehner would survive an increase to the debt limit but he’ll never survive tax increases. If he agrees to that he and the GOP are toast.

Perhaps the non-weepy House members can still save us. If Boehner swaps smaller than needed cuts for an increase in the debt ceiling, perhaps the House as a whole will reject it. I hope they will, anyway; we need a notable victory going into ‘12, and caving to Obama isn’t what I have in mind.

Sounds like he’s rejecting Obama’s “amazing cuts in the future!” ploy.

But this is the WaPo, probably little connection to reality here...
