Lotsa great Yankee's and Jeter belongs among them.

Not to mention a first ballot inductee into the MLB HOF.

You are, no doubt, exactly what Sarah Silverman had in mind when she accurately described Red Sox fans on Fox Saturday Baseball.

It was very close to 2:00pm when Derek Jeter, #2, became one of 2 who have ever played for the Yankees to get 3,000 hits, one of only 2 who got 5 hits on the day they got their 3,000th and one of only 2 players to hit a home run for their 3,000th.

People with tickets to yesterday’s rain-out are going to be really, really P-O’ed!

Same here. Also, I tip my hat to the entire Tampa Bay team. The reacted with total class, from their 1st basemen tipping his hat to Jeter as he rounded first, to the whole team standing outside the dugout applauding.

Really great to see. A great day for baseball.

As a life long Yankee hater I offer a well deserved tip of the hat to Derek Jeter, a class act all the way.

There is not much that you can be proud of being from Michigan, but Jeter is real class, a champion amongst chapmions. Go Kalamazoo!

What a day for Jeter. Awesome! A great baseball hero, an all-time Yankee legend, destined for Monument Park AND Cooperstown-—and he ain’t done yet!

My dad (who’d have celebrated his 99th b’day yesterday) was a lifelong Yankees fan. Not a baseball fan myself, but I hold a special place in my heart for the Yanks.

From what I’ve seen, Jeter is an absolute first class act, so I’m delighted he achieved this great record in his sport. Reading about the response he got from the other team made it all the better.

Wow. What's his earliest Yankee memory?

I swear, he watched them at the Polo Grounds! Think he was at the opening of the old Yankee Stadium as a kid. His family didn’t live too far from there in the 20’s/30’s, so he went somewhat frequently. THEN he took my brothers ... not once did he take me or my sister. Think it’s a generational thing, ‘girls’ weren’t supposed to like baseball, or sports, generally.

So, week after next is my annual trek to NY and if the Yanks have a home game I may try to get tix, take my daughter and son-in-law who just moved to NYC from SF (where they could actually see the Giants Stadium from their apt, including the fireworks after the games). I, on the other hand, remember the Giants and the Polo Grounds in da Bronx.

Congrats to him.

Hard to believe that no other Yankee got 3000.
