Navi Pillay should have notified Texas of which consulate to notify when this guy was first picked up.

He had his chance.

FM: State of Texas

Subject: Humberto Garcia execution.

Dear Mr. Pillay, upon further review, we have decided to accede to your request. We have informed Mr. Garcia of our decision but he has refused to respond. In fact, he has been unresponsive for quite some time now. We suspect that he might even be dead. If so, sorry.

I thought LEOs were not, under any circumstances, ever permitted to ask about a person's immigration status, ergo there never was a duty or even a legality in pursuing the consulate option. Furthermore, hasn't this wretched Fe'ral Government also asserted that even illegal aliens have 14th Amendment protections? Equal protection under the law anyone?
