The bottom line is that Perry is yet another creature of Rove, who has his tentacles everywhere and is pulling all the GOP-E levers right now.

Karl Rove says he and consultant David Weeks persuaded Rick Perry to switch parties and run for state agriculture commissioner

Rove says he expects Perry to run for president

Perry raffles lunch with Rove

And everything you see in GOP politics today MUST be taken in THIS context, especially when Rove is involved:

Next for GOP leaders: Stopping Sarah Palin

Using this arguement, one could make the claim (though it would be equally untrue) that Palin is a Rove plant.

How ?

Karl Rove worked for the McCain campaign, Karl Rove advised John McCain, John McCain picked Sarah Palin, Karl Rove worked hard and diligently to help get the McCain/Palin ticket elected, thus he worked to make Palin the V.P. He even did strategy sessions for her, and assigned operatives to work with her.

And everything said up above, while true, would still be misleading, because, come hell or highwater, Governor Palin isn't a Rove plant (he actually wanted Romney over Palin, and still wants Romney). Rove, didn't have a choice regarding Palin, and was doing his job.

Rove did however, work pretty darn hard to unseat Perry in 2010, thats more work then he ever did against Palin in Alaska. Perry, like Palin, is not a part of the Rove camp, I would go so far as to say that I think Palin endorsed Perry, not so much to spite Rove, but at least to stick a little bit of a thumb in his eye.
