Yep, the freedom of the sole practice is great. I don’t have to worry about getting RIF’d and then being “too old” to be employable. I may not make more than 10 cents, but after taxes it’s all mine! For all it’s headaches, there is still no substitute for self-employment.

The best $250 I ever spent was on a private practice bankruptcy and property attorney. I was looking at a property and figured he'd know all the pitfalls and downsides of purchasing a property. That was an underestimate to say the least. He asked if I was crazy at least three times just for considering purchasing in this market. When my hour was up living in a cardboard box looked appealing.

He was brilliant, non-conformist and anti-social. The diplomas and all the 12-18 month member certificates on his walls substantiated that. He particularly railed about all the crooked real estate agents and attorneys in the county. Said he could count on one hand the ones who were honest amongst both professions.

Lol, I'll probably never purchase a house now or will have to sign some temporary instanity pledge, should I ever need his services again.
