He had his belongings in a trailer that no longer belonged to him.

Why do you believe that the Trailer Park Mortgage Company should have let he and his belongings continue to reside in that trailer for free?

If the applicable standard is like a home foreclosure, there is no legal process underway; if the applicable standard is like a vehicle repossession, the repo man is not allowed to trash your personal property left in the vehicle. Neither standard would allow agents of the lender to rip up the borrower's wedding dress, which is an act of pure and pointless malice.
