Only problem with Perry are the easy comparisons to Bush. If I was Obama , Perry would my hopes. The average voter wants Obama gone but not to return to the Bush years. They want a clean break from the last 2 Presidents. Another cowboy with his bible from Texas will be hard to sell.

So Perry is from the same state as Bush. So What! They are totally different. The hateful comments of “another cowboy with his bible from Texas”. A religious conservative is what a lot of voters are looking for. A Governor of TX that was elected 3 times has a lot of experience governing. Certainly not like that radical Obama. Perry sure won’t need a telepromter to talk to a grade school class.

Perry can point to the NYTimes piece on divisions between W and Perry, he can talk about his success compared to Obama's failure in following Bush. He can point to the "success" Texas has had despite the economy. It will resonate. Also he's not as inarticulate as W tended to be.

Bachmann is no sale. She'll be easily dismissed as an unaccomplished extremist even relative to her own party, with spooky theocratic notions, a flake with a truth problem, with an unlicensed therapist husband who tries to cure homosexuals and a whisper campaign he does so out of self-hated. She would provide Obama a target rich environment.

I am not actually convinced that America has a problem with a Bible toter from TX at this point.

I am neither a Perry supporter nor a detractor.

I’m just saying, maybe a handsome Christian man from Texas will be more appealing to the USA that it was back in the days of Bush’s negative ratings. We were far better off then; and we’ve seen the contrast between a decent patriot in office and the man we are enduring at present.
