Casey Anthony juror Jennifer Ford said today that she and the other jurors cried and were "sick to our stomachs" after voting to acquit Casey Anthony of charges that she killed her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.
"I did not say she was innocent," said Ford, who had previously only been identified as juror number 3. "I just said there was not enough evidence. If you cannot prove what the crime was, you cannot determine what the punishment should be."
The jury's jaw dropping not guilty verdict shocked court observers, but it was also a difficult moment for the panel, Ford said in an exclusive interview with ABC News. No one from the jury was willing to come out and talk to the media in the hours after the verdict.
"Everyone wonders why we didn't speak to the media right away," Ford said. "It was because we were sick to our stomach to get that verdict. We were crying and not just the women. It was emotional and we weren't ready. We wanted to do it with integrity and not contribute to the sensationalism of the trial."
Instead of murder, Casey Anthony, 25, was found guilty of four counts of lying to law enforcement and could be released from jail as early as Thursday.
Ford praised the jurors.
"They picked a great bunch of people, such high integrity. And there was high morale," she said. "We all joked. We are like a big group of cousins."
Casey Anthony Prosecutor: 'All Came Down to Cause of Death'
Earlier today, the prosecutor and an alternate juror agreed on why the jury had refused to convict Anthony: They couldn't prove how little Caylee Anthony died.
"It all came down to the evidence," said Florida state attorney Jeff Ashton on "The View."

I am afraid these jurors are the American people personified. And neither are capable of self-government.
Hey juror #3, you and your cousins are stuck on stupid.
I don’t think they will feel sick at all; they lack the intelligence to do so.
These people are nuclear grade idiots.
“Mark Fuhrman was on Greta. He used the word ridiculous to describe how the jury interpreted the evidence.”
Good for him. It was!
“trials are unnecessary when you have torches and billy clubs”
Childish hyberbole.
The evil that was done to this little girl by her mother is obvious to anyone with commonsense. It was evil not to call the police for a month and let that baby be eaten by animals.
Brilliant, and sadly, true. This jury had no ability to reason, that’s for sure.
It “all” came down to cause of death?
It isn’t their job to determine exact cause of death.
Bagging/dumping/taping of the body is enough to discard accidental.
And so is lying for a month about whereabouts.
>>Hannity is usually hard to take... he just annoys me .... but now, with this stand he is taking .... this is too much.. and Levin, hes a disappointment too.
<<
Yes, both Rush and Levin both admitted they didn’t follow the case closely.
Rush admitted as much, before airing the verdict live.
Apparently he got an email or phone call from someone(levin perhaps?) telling him there was NO EVIDENCE.
This is straight from Rush’s website (and believe me, I think El Rushbo is the GREATEST EVER).
“Am I going to JIP it? We haven’t covered a syllable of it yet. Don’t give me hand signals. I know every woman in the world is gonna be glued to that verdict. I understand. Kathryn’s been watching this. I probably shouldn’t admit this. Sitting here right now, I bet I don’t know 2% of what this is about, and the 2% that I know I know ‘cause I asked Kathryn while she’s sitting there watching TV Sunday night. And I’m saying, “They had court on Sunday? They had court? I’ve never heard of this. Why?”
Then they had court yesterday, and then all last night that’s all the cable networks did. And I’m sitting there and, folks, it’s not often I don’t know something. Sitting here right now, I know nothing about this. I only have the thoughts when I look at the mother.”

BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: I don’t know, folks. I’m taking a gander, a listen at various media analysts on the Casey Anthony “not guilty” verdicts here during the commercial breaks, and I have to tell you, they are livid, they are livid. And I of course, El Rushbo, find great pleasure in them being livid. Now, I’ve had some people help me out here today ‘cause I didn’t know anything about this, but I now know that there was no evidence
I wonder if we'll find out the background of the jurors. The alternate juror said he didn't know anything about the case when he was chosen.
A lot of people don't follow the news, and we've ended up with morons on juries, as Dennis Miller said.
Here’s my hpothesis on what happened: Hannity and Levin were watching summation. (Levin admitted he didn’t follow the case closely).
They both have an epiphany that the prosecution did a lousy job in summation.
Someone called Rush, who jumped on board, implicitly trusting the assessment of Sean and Mark.
Three wise men CAN make a bad call, and I’m thinking this is exactly what happened. (And I’m being generous calling Hannity “wise.”)
Oh, knock it off, Drama Queen. This is a discussion forum. Two words: FREE SPEECH. No one is running around with pitchforks and torches. At least not yet.
Face it, this was a pathetic assortment of incurious, confused dullards too stupid to even grasp the difference between "reasonable doubt" and "no doubt." And frankly, as more and more examples of this jury's impaired reasoning leaks out, I question the intelligence of those on this forum continuing to defend their verdict. I find it strikingly similar to the Obamabots defending "their guy."
By the way, I take it you were equally thrilled with the O.J. jury's verdict?
>>Once you let slip the dogs of vengeance, borne of fury, you have embraced evil. <<
You have a flair for the melodramatic.
That dipshit juror who didn’t follow the news is a high school government teacher.
...ya can’t make this stuff up
Damn straight.
