Better make it a large box, then. This is going to take some time.

I gotta give Ken Melson credit for using his career smarts. Knowing as an “at will” temp executive he can be tossed under the bus anytime, Melson took advantage of:

“Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010, P.L.111-117, 123 Stat. 3034, § 714 (2010), as continued by §1104 of P.L. 112-10- which extends the funding levels, as well as “the authority and conditions provided in such Acts,” through September, 2011....”

to buy some insurance. While creating a “partial hangout, defense”, (or so he thinks, anyway), he’s shoved USAG Holder, (plus a lot of others in DOJ, FBI, and DHS) in front of the bus if I read Sen. Grassley’s letter aright.

But I don’t buy Melson’s “Shultz Defense”, either any more than I bought Holder’s and Dep. Welch’s evasations and circumlutions to Rep. Issa’s Committee under direct questioning.

IAC, this already far exceeds Watergate and Iran-Contra in the scope of government it encompasses and the institutional contempt for our laws demonstrated. No way a project of this scope, (encompassing everyone from State to Treasury to DOJ) this could not have been reviewed in the Oval Office. Now we get to see if a Harvard Law graduate can weasel a way out of this. >PS

Obviously, “Melson was stupid and did not smart enough to run an intelligent program” is not going to work for the DOJ.

Somebody higher up (and there are only 3 people above Melson, including Holder and Obama) manipulated this situation.
