I’ve been using my short form birth certificate issued by my home county for all official purposes for the last forty years. It’s been good for passports, licenses, Social Security and mortgages.
Any court of law in the land will accept a certified copy of a birth certificate issued by a state/county/city as long as it contains the official state/county/city Seal and an authorizing signature of an official of the state/county/city.

YOUR SHORT FORM: Are you saying that you ordered a short form birth certificate because you lost your long form?
1. So you are saying (1)that the dog didn't eat it; (2)that it was not stained so severely that most of it was unreadable; and (3)that it was not falling apart.
2. Just wondering: Did you send your personal attorney to your home state to personally pick up a copy of your short form, or was it simply mailed to you?
3. Of course, you are a private citizen---and I assume that you are not running for public office---so you don't have to explain to anyone why you order a birth certificate, long or short form.
4. However, if you were President of the United States who was running for re-election and VOTERS were demanding to see your long form birth certificate, then I say that you have an obligation to explain to us VOTERS why you ordered a long form birth certificate if you already had one, because it you don't, many of us VOTERS will become very suspicious that you are trying to hide something that will damage your political career.
5. My point is this: All I am asking the President of the United States to do is explain why he had to order a long form birth certificate in April 2011:
a. Did he simply lose his copy?
b. Did his dog eat it?
c. Was it so stained that parts of it were unreadable?
d. Was it coming apart?
I’m saying that I needed a birth certificate to get a passport for my first trip to Europe. I ordered “my birth certificate” from my home state and they sent me what is now called a “short form.” I have used it ever since.
The birth certificate that Zero posted on his web site in April of 2008 was good enough for him to get elected. I suspect that the long form that is on the White House web site now will be good enough for anyone who would consider voting for Zero in 2012.
I have not heard any announced Republican candidates or any potential Republican candidates challenge the authenticity of Zero’s birth certificate(s), have you?
