From the Kevin Williamson article at post #25 (worth reading imho):

Perry shrugged off the Bushies’ maneuverings and ground Hutchison’s political ambitions into a fine paste, pantsing her so badly that eventually she was forced to announce that she would relinquish her Senate seat, too, something she plainly was not much inclined to do. He gave equally rough treatment to his general-election opponent, Democrat Bill White, the former mayor of Houston, an affable, business-friendly candidate in whom lonely Texas Democrats had invested a great deal of hope and money. It was seek-and-destroy. “Six weeks before she got into the race, there was no way Kay was losing,” says one observer. “Six weeks after she got into the race, there was no way she was winning.” One Hutchison adviser tells of coming out of an early focus-group session convinced that she was dead in the water. “It wasn’t the year to be running against Rick Perry from the left in Texas,” he says.

If Palin, as you suggest, had campaigned for Hutchison, and not Rick Perry, conservatives would have voted for Perry, and Palin would not be considered a voice for the Tea Party.

imho =^D

Maybe they'll even announce as a POTUS/VP team.

Rather than have Palin as VP, I would prefer her to be Perry's chief of staff. I think that she would have more influence there than as VP. But I would prefer to have her at the top of the ticket, however.

Karl in a Corner
http://www.opednews.com/articles/genera_scott_ho_080408_karl_in_a_corner.htm
Second, Rove’s opponents would regularly find that they had suddenly become the target
of a criminal investigation, and details concerning the investigation would be
aggressively fanned to the press. Rove mastered this technique in a contest
for the Texas Agriculture Commissioner’s post that he managed for now-Governor Rick Perry.

It Started in Texas: Karl Rove’s Political Prosecutions
http://www.harpers.org/archive/2007/07/hbc-90000569
1. Rove was hired to run the campaign of Rick Perry, the current governor,
for the powerful Texas office of Commissioner of Agriculture, then held by
Democrat Jim Hightower. Shortly thereafter, it was clear that a major
FBI investigation had been launched into the workings of the Texas Agriculture
Department (TDA), focusing on Hightower and his senior lieutenants, who had been
pursuing a populist, anti-corporate agriculture and pro-small-farmer agenda.

Jim Hightower talks about his new book, “Thieves in High Places: They’ve Stolen Our Country and it’s Time to Take it Back”
http://www.buzzflash.com/interviews/03/08/21_hightower.html
HIGHTOWER: Rick Perry, back then (currently Texas Governor), was his client, so to speak,
and Perry had been recruited. He was sort of a nothing Texas legislator who had been brought
in — again as an affable fellow without any brain muscle. Perry was essentially sent to
wander around out in West Texas during the campaign so he would be out of the way,
while Rove worked this FBI agent and raised money from the chemical industry
and other corporate interests that opposed me. Rove had George Bush go on
television against me. Then Rove ran a series of television ads that
established a new low in negative advertising.

For example, they showed a long-haired guy setting a flag on fire,
and throwing it on the ground. And then my picture came up out of the fire, and said
“Hightower supports flag burning,” which, of course, I don t. But it doesn t matter,
you know. I had to go around answering: “Why do you support flag burning?”
Rove had another ad of me campaigning with Jesse Jackson, who I supported in 1988
in the Presidential campaign. And Rove ran this ad that essentially was a smear
on Jackson and then tying me to him. The ad so angered the Black Caucus in the State Legislature
that they convened their own press conferences in Houston and Dallas to assail it. But again it was too late.
All this was happening in the last three weeks of the election. So, I mean, that s just who the guy is.

["Perry was part of the "Pit Bulls", a group of Appropriations members who sat on the lower dais in the committee room (or "pit") who pushed for austere [Texas] state budgets during the 1980s."] Source

Karl Rove claims Rick Perry as his candidate in Perry's FIRST campaign for the Texas Agriculture Commission. [From what I’ve found this was their only collaboration]

Perry was a Texas Democrat (not a liberal Democrat). He switched to the Republican Party in 1989. In 1990 Perry won the election (against Jim Hightower) to head the Agricultural Committee (a post Perry was well suited for as having come from a cotton farming family -- raised and worked the land -- and had a degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M). He was reelected in 1994 to that office in a landslide (62%). He did not seek reelection for a 3rd term and ran for Lt. Gov of Texas (1998), winning in a 3 way race, in a hard fought campaign against John Sharp (D).

["Perry thus became the state's first Republican lieutenant governor since Reconstruction, taking office on January 19, 1999 until his ascension to the governorship on December 21, 2000 upon the resignation of then-Governor George W. Bush."] Source

In that 1998 campaign year, the G.W. Bush camp (which included Karl Rove) was campaigning for W's reelection for Texas Gov (1st elected in 1994) and was at odds with Rick Perry's hard nosed campaign against John Sharp for Lt. Gov. Karl Rove told Perry to soft peddle to lift Bush's numbers in minority groups, Perry refused. Bush won reelection as Texas Governor. Perry won office as Lt. Gov. (arguably a stronger office than TX governor).

["Bush won by 1.4 million votes, Perry by fewer than 70,000. There were harsh words afterward; Rove and Dave Carney, a top Perry strategist, now are bitter foes."] Source

Then there was this in the TX Monthly about the 2010 governor's race:

October 2009: “....It would not be surprising to find that Karl Rove had a hand in this somewhere. The Bushies are definitely in the Hutchison camp, and there is no love lost between them and the Perry camp. The tension (according to Perry team members whom I interviewed on this subject last year) dates all the way back to Perry’s race for lieutenant governor in 1998, when Rove insisted that Perry stick with a positive message even while he was being pounded by John Sharp. Meanwhile, in the view of the Perry camp, Rove was trying to turn out Hispanic Democrats who would vote for Bush, even though that meant they were likely to switch back to the D column to vote for Sharp. The Perry team decided that they had to fight back, Rove or no Rove, and they went rogue, going after Sharp hard. It worked.

...If that animosity weren’t enough, after Bush was named the winner in December 2000, Perry was insistent that the president-elect vacate the governor’s mansion so that Perry could move in, notwithstanding that Bush wanted to stay a day or two longer before leaving for Washington. I heard that firsthand from the Bushies at the time....” -- Texas Monthly

********

Basically, in the 2010 GOP primary in TX for the governor's office, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutichison was hoping to come home to Texas as Governor. Her election was being backed by the Bush family and all their power players were lined up against Gov. Rick Perry, with Karl Rove serving as Sen Hutchison's adviser against Perry. Source

Rick Perry won a 3rd term as Governor of Texas in 2010.

Perry’s vaccination order still stoking fires

AUSTIN — Blowback continued at the Capitol on Wednesday over Gov. Rick Perry’s order mandating
that schoolgirls be vaccinated against a sexually transmitted disease linked to cervical cancer.

Critics rip Perry’s vaccine mandate
Governor rejects opponents’ calls to reverse order

AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry stood firm Monday against a political firestorm generated by his
order that sixth-grade girls be inoculated against a sexually transmitted virus linked to cervical cancer.

Social conservatives from Texas to Washington called on Perry to reverse his order making
Texas the first state to require the vaccine, saying the mandate makes sex seem permissible
and that parents should be the ones to decide whether to immunize their daughters.
And several Texas lawmakers expressed outrage at Perry for circumventing the legislative process.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/26/us/26texas.html

The vaccine, Gardasil, is manufactured by Merck, which was represented in Austin by the
lobbyist Mike Toomey, who was chief of staff for Mr. Perry from 2002 to 2004.

Who is your candidate "truthfreedom?"

I've asked you about 10 times.

Don't have one?

Just stopping by from Daily Kos?

I still think you're Jim Hightower. How's Jesse Jackson doing these days?

Jesse Jackson, Jr. has said of him, “Jim Hightower is a tireless champion for every American, and he has the right prescription for what ails our nation.”

When “Diogenesis' swings by “Gadsden1st” and “truthfreedom" can't be far behind [#63-#66-#70]

Odd how they're pushing Huntsman, Romney and would be happy if Obama stayed in the WH after 2012. Odd that Diogenesis pings them to his posts.

I have voted for Perry each time he ran for governor but Perry pales in comparison to Palin as far as being a true conservative.

Poll:”Although Rick Perry’s general election poll standing in Texas is less than impressive Republican primary voters in the state have warmed up to him over the first six months of the year and he’s now the clear favorite in the state.

31% of Republicans say Perry would be their first choice as nominee next year compared to 15% for Mitt Romney, 11% for Michele Bachmann, 9% for Ron Paul and Sarah Palin, 8% for Newt Gingrich, 6% for Herman Cain, and 2% for Tim Pawlenty.

Perry’s strength with GOP voters in his home state is a new development. When PPP looked at Texas in January only 9% of Republicans said Perry was their top choice, putting him in 6th place overall and well behind Mike Huckabee’s 24%. But Perry’s shown a lot more interest in a bid since then, Huckabee’s out of the picture, and Gingrich who was in second place at 17% in January has tanked. Perry has likely picked up a lot of the lost support of his fellow southern candidates in the race..........”

She would NOT have endorsed Hutchinson...AS I SAID IN CAPS... ..HUTCHINSON supports infanticide.

Getting my posters mixed up here, so not aimed at you, some a** clown here suggested Palin endorsement for Perry meant very little, and that simply was not the case.

If she had instead did the same things with Kay Bailey instead of Perry...NOT THAT SHE WOULD HAVE AS KAY BAILEY SUPPORTS INFANTICIDE...not yelling just emphasizing...The outcome might have been different?

I was not there, you were, so I yield to you perhaps, but I recall hearing of a tight race before Sarah came along.

JMHO :)

Don't get me wrong, I like Palin. However, I have to question her actions since stepping down as governor. What is her game plan, exactly? She does a TV series, exposing her personal life. She sells books. She tours around the country doing paid appearances. For what? For who? She's in a bus in Vermont. Doing what? Campaigning for someone? For herself? Who knows. She loves the limelight, that much I do know. She loves money and fame, I can see that as well. She left her job as governor to pursue money and fortune, basically. Yes? No?

To me, she's become a white female version of Jesse Jackson, Sr. No traceable source of a job or income (other than husband's commercial fishing job, which is quite lucrative, granted.) Who is paying her way? Who's paying for her bus tour? Her husband? Does anyone know?

I think a growing number of people are like me. They aren't sure what she's after, and not sure if she knows, herself.

How can so many of you follow her around like puppies and not know if she's going to run or if she's simply padding her pockets?

Is/was it? I really don't know. If lucrative why did he take a job with an oil company?
From what I saw on Sarah Palin's Alaska he has a couple small boats and he basically just throws a net across a river and gills salmon.

PERRY = MEGA-RINO

So, is Sarah Palin lying when she states:

“He does what is right regardless of whether it is popular. He walks the walk of a true conservative,” she wrote, and, in a nod to their shared cultural populism, added, “He sticks to his guns — and you know how I feel about guns!” --- Sarah Palin, speaking about Rick Perry
