I’m not going to lose sleep over my first choice for president.

But I will give my opinion and analysis of the situation.

The GOP race is being rigged with splitter candidates being pumped up to cover Romney’s flanks so he can win the nomination.

The political bosses may speak of an “open primary” or “open race” but behind the scenes their money and organization creates the final outcome of the race. This has happened countless times in state and local races.

Conservatives in the grassroots of the GOP aren’t organized and the insiders either overcome the conservatives with money and media behind their candidate (usually projecting a conservative image).

If the conservative opposition is too strong at grassroots level and the moderate insider can’t get a majority in a primary vote, the insiders create a third candidate to run a conservative campaign (tough radical speeches and image) splittng conservative votes so the RINO wins the primary.

We see this strategy now playing out in the presidential race with the fear of Palin and Paul driving the RINO’s to go to extreme lengths with this strategy.

Let's first honest about our opinions, shall we?

It is merely your BELIEF that the race is being rigged. Conspiracy mongering is not new to this forum to say the least.

In all reality, it is a more simple as well as difficult problem for us. And that is, the fact the the average American is simply ignorant and is easily swayed by a collective mindset.

In 2008, when the Conservative base was busy squabbling over the purest candidates, McCain slipped in through the back door. The MSM had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Nobody “picked” our candidate for us, we simply were too fragmented and could not agree on much of anything when it mattered.

Generally, Open Primary refers to primaries open to any voter regardless of any previous declared or voted party affiliation, not to races being wide open. But I think you know that, as your analysis seems correct to me. Some things posted in a thread yesterday about winner-takes-all primaries educated me and reinforced how easy it is for the political pros to accomplish what you described in your post, by backing muktiple selected candidates in different states.
