By this standard it is now easier to get away with murder than shoplifting. Common sense is no so common.
Bill Handel of KFI radio here in L.A. (he’s a lawyer) said it’s now apparent that a mother could kill her own child, bury her in a warm place to accelerate decomposition, wait 31 days to report her missing, and walk when the case comes to trial because the cause of death is not known. With CSI etc., juries now expect an ironclad case or they vote Not Guilty.

You think that the evidence bar should be set just a little bit higher when a person is being tried for a crime that they could be killed or imprisoned for life if convicted?
Of course juries give the prosecution more leeway when the stakes are less.
