I have been saying it the whole time.... my hubby called me crazy....but the evidence was not unquestionable. Our legal system worked....the lawyers & judge ALL sucked..... It isn’t b/c the jury is stupid, our justice system worked as intended....

I’m not saying that she didn’t kill her kid, I’m saying the prosecution & police screwed up from the beginning. Not that they’re horrible people, they just didn’t do their jobs very well.

America is not lost b/c of this trial. Shameful of anyone who says so.

I agree with your take, even though I think it's highly likely that she did it.

The evidence in this case was almost entirely circumstantial; and to call it "flimsy" would be an understatement. The defense poked more holes in the state's case than a piece of swiss cheese and created more than enough reasonable doubt for this result.

Exactly, the dual nature of the questions make reasonable doubt more likely:

1. If you think there is a 90% chance the child was murdered rather than died accidently and a 90% chance the mother did it, you have a 81% chance the child was murdered and the mother did it.

2. If you think there is a 80% chance the child was murdered rather than died accidently and a 80% chance the mother did it, you have a 64% chance the child was murdered and the mother did it.

3. If you think there is a 70% chance the child was murdered rather than died accidently and a 70% chance the mother did it, you have a 49% chance the child was murdered and the mother did it.

So where is reasonable doubt? Less than 95% or less than 70% or less than 50%?

So I guess I would say, I think there is about a 70% chance the child was murdered and about an 90% chance if so the mother did it, so I am at about 63%, but 37% doubt seems to me pretty reasonable when talking about the kinds of penalties involved here.

Correct. The jury bases its decision based on the case presented in court.

I agree. As I said in my previous post...although I hadn’t watched the entire trial, I was left with the reasonable doubt about the evidence and case presented by the attorneys. It just wasn’t enough for me to fully be sure.

And I too don’t think this reflects as to the shape of our country as a whole. That’s just nonsense.
