Morning all, didn't see a thread for today so I created one.
There used to be a FReeper with the screen name Non-Sequitor.
Very argumentative character...apparently was zotted some time ago.
Please disregard this notice and any further summons you receive from us.Funny, although it sounds like you'd like to serve. My husband says he's not a popular writer, because he's "impolite," however, he *has* served on a jury.
Post of the Day.
The threshold for conviction is "beyond a reasonable doubt", not 100% certainty.
These trials should never be televised live. Record them for transparency's sake and show them on CourtTV or wherever else after the fact. Broadcasting these things live turn a terrible tragedy into just another reality TV show. No one acts as they normally would when millions of people are watching them. Jurors start over thinking, applying an incorrect burden threshold (as you just did) to the prosecution, falsely believe that most cases aren't circumstantial (many/most are) and begin planning their TV appearances and book deals.
Me too. This sends a rather ominous message that you can beat the rap for killing your kids.
I imagine that the movie will suck just as bad as the verdict does. Hopefully, the director will dress the “jury” in clown suits for the movie. I was on a “jury” once for a DUI case. I’ll never do it again. Those bozos are morons. I don’t want to be associated with them. Yeah, the guy was guilty of DUI but one of the morons wanted to “send the cops a message”. I threatened to send him a message by whipping his ass.
Along with the perpetually angry brunette with the yellow streaks in her hair.
Where are these “reams of evidence”? Very little helpful evidence pointing to Casey was actually presented in this case.
I just programed my Tv to prohibit anymore Whoreraldo or BOR. They both suck, BIGTIME!
One more thing: If these people think that it’s ‘justice’ and that ‘the system worked’ when guilty people go free, why do we even have laws that punish murder in the first place? Wouldn’t it just save us a bunch of time to not bother trying crime? Then the system would work GREAT!
Even so — I have no doubt that someone in Casey’s family hid the body. Nevertheless, it doesn’t prove murder or manslaughter. It might make it more likely than not, but that isn’t good enough for a criminal charge.
NO JURORS are willing to speak with the media. That speaks volumes!
They were brainwashed by HLN. That type of coverage should be stopped. Lynch Mobs should be illegal.
Cowards! The jury is refusing to appear.
Jurors not talking today.
The jury had manslaughter as a choice though and rejected it.
I didn’t know that. What a total miscarriage of justice, then. No excuses.
Not even a child abuse conviction.
I certainly hope that people are more level-headed than to surrender their life or liberty in exacting revenge for this legal travesty which emerged from America's latest media-fueled pop culture nitwitism.
Four days from now, and Casey Anthony will be as forgotten as Anthony Weiner.
It doesn't work that way in America.
Perhaps you should move to Iran. I think you might prefer their system of justice.
