I'm sure I'm not the only FReeper who would like to be updated with videos, etc.

I’ve been waiting all day for an update or pictures from the Freepers who are there.

So have I. I've been searching Joplin TV stations, websites, etc. hoping to find a streaming video or something.
Interesting fact. Joplin's Public Television station doesn't say a word about the celebration.
Interesting in an "it figures" kind of way.

Thanks for the link. I've been to that website numerous times but can't find any video.
Under community events it lists Father's Day but nothing about Independence Day.

Today the Joplin is hosting a huge celebration at Landrath Park. Gates open at 3:00 p.m. and the event is free and open to the public. Fireworks are scheduled to kick off around 9:30 p.m.
“We want to give everyone a break!” said the event manager for the city parks Beth Peacock.
Peacock says there will be lots of food and music, including a performance by country music star Joe Diffy.
Plus, she says Rush Limbaugh will be stopping by around 8:00 p.m.

Somebody with 15,000 bucks to spare should have provided food, beverage and entertainment. A break they need indeed.

country music star Joe Diffy. Well, that pretty much kills the deal.

Rush is donating a refrigerator truck full of Two-if-by-Tea to this party. Hope they are having a terrific time!

I am glad he will be there. Don’t be surprised if he amps it up a bit.

Rush is the best by far. He will be there in person, he said. Over 3,000 entries were entered for “the best reason for the best park” to donate his refrigerated truckload of Two if By Tea in all 4 flavors. He said the responses warmed his heart and many, many people from all over the country nominated Joplin, so that is why this very special park was chosen.
I, too am hoping for their quick recovery. Notice how they are not whining about freebies in Joplin? New Orleans people are STILL whining. Get a life down there folks. It’s been 6 years. Pick YOURSELVES up by your bootstraps. No one owes you.
Hats off to Joplin and may God continue to Bless America.
