Remember when we used to say the Pledge each morning, at the beginning of the schoolday? I wonder how many (public) schools still do it today? And I wonder how many allow it, but ONLY with “that annoying part about God” removed ...

We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion... Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
And we sang patriotic songs and our teacher would read the Bible before starting class (in elementary school) and say a prayer. No one ever complained. And even when my kids were in elementary school, their music teacher was Jewish and they learned several Jewish songs and no one complained. They had Christmas programs and sang real Christmas songs and no one complained. I truly don’t recognize America today.
That’s the way my school day started.
