Overreacting? Surely you jest. If the Republicans choose not to negotiate with the Democrats, we get $1.6 trillion in budget cuts. Do you really think they will get something better than a $1.6 trillion cut in federal spending (in a single year, btw) if they DO negotiate with Democrats?

Again, no compromise = $1.6 trillion in cuts. Compromise = Republicans looking like idiots again. Are you really willing to forfeit $1.6 trillion in spending cuts in exchange for a small tweaking of the tax code? Cornyn has lost sight of the big picture here, and it looks as though you have done the same.

Cornyn did not say the Republicans should compromise. He said no raised taxes. Get what we can get now, then look at tax reform after Aug. 2. But he went into a long explanation about why the American people would not accept tax increases.
