Good post on draftees. WW II was won by draftees because the regular guys were already killed off or wounded. Of interest, since wars have been waged by volunteers they never seem to end.

We call it Independence Day but it wasn’t so long ago
that it was called Declaration day. That to me
marks the event much better, we were not found
independent we DECLARED our independence.
So to all I say, Happy Declaration Day, if you have
guns, fire them, if you have cannon, fire them, let
the sound of our independent defense ring out across
the nation and the world.
