Newsweek’s Evan Thomas rips Obama speech: ‘He was being a God [expletive] Democrat!’
Daily Caller ^ | 7/3/11

Posted on 07/03/2011 9:55:04 AM PDT by markomalley

A Mark Halperin misstep this is not, but Newsweek magazine columnist Evan Thomas had some pretty strong words for President Barack Obama Friday.

On “Inside Washington,” host Gordon Peterson asked his panel to suggest a way to overcome the current impasse and get Congress and the White House moving on a budget deal. Thomas offered up a solution, but also expressed his frustration with Obama.

“Yeah, because it’s happened before – Obama has got to be President of the United States,” Thomas said. “He has to be two things. He has to make a public case of how bad is this, because he is not doing that. He’s not being honest about just how bad this is going to be — no, he was partisan. He was God [bleep] Democrat! He was just, you know – being a party guy. I applaud the energy but it wasn’t getting me anywhere. He has got to rise above that and then in private, in private – he’s got to make a deal.”

Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer’s sentiments fell in line with Thomas’s.

“Instead of saying, as a president ought to say, is that we have a problem — it is a serious problem, it’s a growing problem, it’s a structural problem and we have to do something, he says, as in the sound bite you showed, it is a choice between helping the elderly on Medicare and corporate jets and oil tax breaks,” Krauthammer added. “That is pure demagoguery and that is not leadership.”

Earlier in the program, Krauthammer pointed out that if you were to collect the tax on corporate jets for the next 7,000 years, it would not cover one year of an Obama administration deficit.

The boy King OblahMao-— from Rising Star to fading comet.
Rose boy’s bloom long gone-—nothing but the thorny stems remain. Leaving a lot of sharp pricks for those who still grasp for them. Audacity of dopes— the LSM that is.

Okay, okay. Maybe not millions. Maybe just one or two.

Media Libtards won’t learn from their ‘lessons’. They will hitch up their wagons to another charming, smooth talking serpent who tickles the ear. Look at the recent adoration bestowed upon Andrew Cuomo for promoting gay marriage in NY. Their new Savior on the horizon. LSM.. dopes who get duped and then dupe the dopes called sheeple.

If he’s losing Time and Newsweek writers, then he’s got some problems.

Amen! Almost half the people in this country, and more than half if you count the illegal Mexicans, still think this guy can do no wrong. Watch them melt when he makes a speech. Then ask them what he said and look them in the eye. There’s nothing there. Point out something he has done they don’t agree with and the response will more than likely be “Sarah Palin and Michelle Backman are stupid.”

From Day One, millions of us knew that an Obama Presidency would be “pure demagoguery” and NOT an ounce of leadership.
Obama is only capable of “leadership” for some phantom entity of interests that has nothing to do with the nation of whidh he is President—it’s as if he has been here “on loan” from some future abstract “Utopia”, which doesn’t and
never has existed in the ‘real’ world, except in the heads of 2nd rate academics.
So I shed no tears for the Finally Disappointed and Frustrated like Evan Thomas. Obama was a radical ideologue, a personally arrogant and clueless narcissist from the get-go, and all his worst qualities (his ONLY qualities, in fact) were given a red-light by MSM talking heads and spin doctors, because they were in love with being responsible for bringing about the ‘historic occasion’ of his Presidency.
Yes, even Krauthammer, who I thought would know better, and was more experienced, came out with a positive scenario of Obama as Presidential material during the 2008 campaign, but thought he wasn’t quite ready JUST YET to be President, thinking he should wait for the next election cycle.
Obama is not the type to wait, nor was the Democratic Party apparatus that was all to eager to roll him out there and
begin (finally!) the process of ‘re-making America”.
Listen with “the third ear” at what their rhetoric has been for 2 1/2 years now and it’s crystal clear what they’ve been up to: the big, deep hole they say Bush put us into and they inherited, is exactly what THEY have dug relentlessly , and what the next President will inherit.
It’s the classic act of what Freud called projection, but in politics it’s just normal lying and spin, which the Democrats have perfected as a Crude Art, rather than a Fine Art.
Sadly, the next President will have to spend an inordinate amount of energy just undoing what Obama has done, which of
course is exactly what Team Obama said THEY would have to do.
Still hard to believe that people like Evan Thomas, who were all part of the Massive Media Team that helped Obama get elected (think Oprah, Hollywood, and everyone in the print media) still profess this kind of frustration and disappointment.,
If they don’t come out of it with a vow of “never again”, they will have learned nothing. They still have lots of face to save, obviously.

It’s too early, but I bet he doesn’t run for reelection.

If there is no ceiling limit and the economy improves, he loses. If the ceiling is raised, and taxes go up, he loses. If everything remains the same, he loses.

And there is no way the media could hide it.

In his honor They will call him the nations savior, they will talk abut how courageous he was in the face of adversity. They will say how he pulled us back from the brink.

Then they will nominate Hillary. This might very well be the reason her credentials are being touted.

Not being gifted with graphic skills, I pass on an idea to whoever can execute it—how about the Obama logo done on a toilet seat?

You are correct. Norman Thomas was a Presbyterian minister who decided that he wanted to offer concrete help, not spiritual. He fell into the progressive trap of his (and our) age.

Thomas is making the judgement that if the ceiling is not lifted it will help conservatives. This is why he is mad at Obama.

The Obama logo on a toilet seat would be OK, but it might be
hard to fit a teleprompter in a smaller bathroom when the toilet seat feels the need to open its lid and give a speech.

Sort of like this?

(Did that one a long while back for something else; had another one - the "before flushing" version, if you will - for which I got into some trouble)
