#WI IAFF: This Independence Day, It’s Union First, American Second…[Walks Out On Memorial Float]

On September 11, 2001, 2,977 people were killed by terrorists. The terrorists were indiscriminate in their slaughter of lives—while the attacks were an attack on America, the terrorists did not care whether those they killed were exclusively American or not, nor did they care whether or not the victims were carrying a union card.

In New York, there were first responders killed on September 11th, 343 of them from the FDNY, many of them who happened to be members of a union, the IAFF.

Yet, in Racine, Wisconsin, the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 321 has made this Independence Day more about union loyalties than America when they voted to refuse support of a float built to honor the public safety workers killed on September 11th in Racine’s Independence Day Parade . Why?

The IAFF is apparently not supporting the 9/11 memorial float for the very simple reason that Lt. Matt Gorniak, the firefighter who (along with his colleagues at the Oak Creek Fire Department) built the float in 2002, dropped his IAFF membership earlier this year.

This begs the question: If a non-union firefighter perishes saving others, does it make him any less of a hero?

The float is shown at the Parkway Apostolic Church in Oak Creek, where firefighter Matt Gorniak and a church youth group are making it ready for a Racine parade on Monday.

"The float is coming anyway," Gorniak said. "I'm going to run it with or without firefighters."

In 2002, three firefighters stood atop the float, and others from several South Shore fire departments walked solemnly along behind, often with their helmets under an arm.

Gorniak said he is offering an open invitation to any firefighter - union or not - who would like to join the float at Monday's parade.

The last thing he wants, he said, is the homemade tribute to become the latest battle ground in the state's collective-bargaining wars.

"I want to touch our community," Gorniak said. "I'm hoping patriotic people are out in droves, and they don't see this as union or nonunion."

Under state law, public employees can drop out of the union and opt to pay just their "fair share" for the cost the union incurs for negotiating contracts. These nonvoting employees don't have to foot the bill for the union's political, social and ideological activities.

Officials say it is highly unusual for Wisconsin firefighters to ask to go fair share. But Gorniak - who describes himself as a born-again Christian who supports conservative politicians, including Gov. Scott Walker - filed his resignation letter and became a fair-share worker in late March or early April. He said he made the move in response to the protests in Madison over Walker's collective-bargaining plan.

Shame on these firefighters.

Don't stop there. All unions are communist like organizations and their only reason for being is greed. They have lost their purpose a long time ago. There should be no union representation in any government service.

It’s Union First, American Second...

It's not just this bunch of greedheads - America has been way down the priority list with many people for a long time, and not just with some unions and government employees. With some, America isn't even on the list.

Up until now most have done a fairly good job of hiding their true feelings, and even displaying a little false patriotism when it payed off and didn't interfere with their other priorities.

But the Obamas have made it safe to openly disrespect America. Their clear dislike for most Americans, American culture and traditions and the rabid anti-Americanism of the leftist media have emboldened a lot of people. They no longer feel a need to pretend or to disguise their true feelings.

There are so many admitted communists and socialists in the Obama administration that others who have hidden their radicalism up to now feel secure in coming out of the closet and showing their disdain for the country, the constitution and our traditions.

When it comes to showing disdain for America the Obamas stand at the head of the line showing the way with hacks and greedy ingrates like this bunch of unionized government employees a close second.
