The wedding was a glittering affair, the likes of which have not been seen since Prince Rainier III married Hollywood icon Grace Kelly in Monaco more than half a century ago.
....But as the couple took their vows, Prince Alberts colourful past threatened to overshadow the proceedings.
It has now been revealed that, following the couple's civil ceremony, a senior palace official confirmed rumours that Prince Albert is likely to undergo the test after claims that he has fathered a third child.
....Albert already has a six-year-old son, Alexandre, through a former Togolese air hostess, Nicole Coste, and a 19-year-old daughter, Jazmin, with Tamara Rotola, an American estate agent.
Despite the development, none of Alberts illegitimate children will have a claim to the throne under Monaco law, a source said. Even if a third or even a fourth child is confirmed Albert will not have an official heir until Princess Charlene bears him one, he added.
The French magazine, Public, has claimed that Prince Albert fathered two new illegitimate children, saying one is understood to be 18 months old and the son of an Italian woman who is preparing to take her story to the press.
Other publications, including Voici, have suggested that Miss Coste could have had a second baby to the Prince. The 40-year old raised eyebrows on Thursday when she was pictured in Monte Carlo on the eve of the wedding.
But for all the background rumours Monaco still basked in glittering pomp and majesty.
.....Seconds before, they had renounced Satan and proclaimed their Christian faith, while Charlene smiled as the archbishop referred to fidelity and forgiveness.
... the newly-weds left the palace in an low-emission, open-top hybrid Lexus LS 600h L car a nod to the Princes green convictions.

hmm.. like The Tudors except not quite so overstated.
“It’s good to be da prince!”
The bodice of Grace's magnificent dress was made of antique lace, and a high cummerbund of ivory silk faille encircled the brides slim waist.
The full silk skirt was bell-shaped and the silk tulle veil had two lace lovebirds appliquéd at the back. According to MGM Studios, the bridal ensemble had taken six weeks to create and involved the skills of 35 craftspeople, working under strict conditions to preserve the secrecy of the design. Helen Rose designed both the cathedral and the civil-ceremony wedding dresses.
As was the Monaguesque custom, the civil marriage of Grace and Prince Rainier took place in the Monaco palace throne room on 18 April 1956. The bride was beautiful in a beige lace and dusty rose silk suit with a fitted bodice and skirt that flared into a full hem. A close-fitting hat trimmed with silk flowers, pink silk pumps and white gloves added the final touches.
MGM Studio also gave its star a dozen Helen Rose-designed outfits from High Society the musical comedy that was to be the actresss 11th and final film. She expanded her trousseau to some 40 outfits during a rapid shopping trip to New York. The colour palette included beige, delicate pastels and her favourite hue, yellow.
Grace's daughter Caroline on her wedding day (first husband).
Tudball and Wiggins...happy at last.
MEMO TO SELF: Don't marry a movie star!
They no longer offer him in a can?
Bride and groom....and attendants.
Royalty has been behaving like this since, well, forever. One more thing to be thankful for this July Fourth.
I’m curious about the medals the groom is seen wearing. Did he serve in the armed forces?
Why do the attendants have pancakes on their heads?
Caroline has been married three times. The first marriage was annulled before she married husband no. 2. They had 2 sons and a daughter. He died and a few years later she married husband no. 3, who has the title Prince of Hanover and they have a daughter. Her sons would be legitimate heirs. Not sure about Stephanie, some of her children may have been born in wedlock or not. She may have a son, I pretty sure she has more than one daughter. Too lazy to google.
A great scenario for an Agatha Christie novel, in other words.
Grace Kelly was passed around Hollywood like a canape’,When the Prince got his turn she was well broken in.
Looks like the reports she tried to run may be true. Poor woman.
Grace and attendants in bgrnd.
I have NO idea!
