Leader of Pima County's GOP faces removal effort (Criticizing botched SWAT raid that killed Guerena)
AZ Star ^ | 07/02/2011 | By Rhonda Bodfield Arizona Daily Star

Posted on 07/02/2011 1:49:24 PM PDT by The Magical Mischief Tour

Pima County Republican Party leaders voted late Thursday to take party chairman Brian Miller’s keys to the GOP headquarters away and call a special meeting to try to remove him from his post.

Miller has been under fire from party stalwarts for the past month, with multiple meetings called in recent weeks after he criticized a SWAT raid in May that resulted in the shooting death of a man law enforcement officers said they suspected of involvement in drug dealing.

Several elected officials and party leaders have complained that his comments pitted the party against law enforcement at a time when city elections are looming and candidates are gearing up for bigger 2012 races.

After questions were raised about the amount of police force used in serving a search warrant Miller said he hoped the incident would foster community discussion of “the policies that routinely lead to heavily armed and militarized local police invading private homes and a renewed interest in the civil liberties codified in our Bill of Rights.”

After Miller refused to resign, the executive committee voted 10-2 to order Miller to cease and desist from acting as an agent of the county committee and return his keys.

Barney Brenner, a member of the committee who voted to seek Miller’s removal, said he wished Miller had resigned to help heal the party.

Brenner said the action doesn’t reflect a rift between more libertarian-leaning Republicans, like Miller, and other more traditional party members.

“This is solely about the best interests of the Pima County Republican Party,” Brenner said, adding regardless of whether Miller meant it to happen, his words damaged the party and the ability of its candidates to raise money and support.

Miller said it is the executive committee that has kept the controversy in the forefront, by continuing to call these meetings to complain about his leadership.

He said he’s been consistent in defending the constitution.

“This is a political witch hunt,” he said, adding, “If they wanted it dropped, they would have dropped it three weeks ago.”

The meeting has yet to be scheduled. A two-thirds vote of the elected precinct committeemen will be required to remove him from office.

Miller said if he survives, he will then call a special meeting of his own to ask the precinct committeemen to vote on the performance of each member of the executive committee.

What home invasion gang?

They had a search warrant, not an arrest warrant. And they had no cause to expect violence, since the man had been questioned and even detained before without violence - and that was when his wife and son were not present.

They had a search warrant, not a death warrant.

They did not announce themselves clearly or loudly. They did not use bullhorns. They broke open the door 15 seconds after first knock and only knock.

Under those circumstances, a SWAT hit at my home would find me armed - and that, in Pima County, is apparently an automatic death warrant.

You should not serve warrants in a way that assumes guilt and thus justifies execution. And I use the term execution because they refused to allow medical help for 90 minutes.

Here is the video of the Pima County Home Invasion team at work:

I have PROOF that our county’s sheriff has a home invasion team. What do YOU have?

At this point, there is no LE organization in Pima County I would trust. Not one. And especially not after OATHKEEPERS did due diligence and held a Memorial Day rally at Guerena’s home. If you could have found a State agency that had discovered it, and not the locals, I MIGHT have gone along. But it’s way past that now.

Donna has the word of local law enforcement, the same ones who investigated themselves and absolved themselves of all wrongdoing. WE only have OATHKEEPERS and Guerena’s former NCOIC to rely on. That and pesky little FACTS, such as he was so into the gang life he had to work 10-12 hours a day at the local mines.

I’m not defending no knock; but, all of you ARE defending a marine you refuse to evaluate.

The affidavit also reported that Guerena was the registered owner of six vehicles with a combined value of at least $105,385.

I don’t care if the ex-marine WAS a crook. He had not done anything that would get him a death penalty, and he still deserved to be, at worst (and IF they found evidence), arrested.

The SWAT team acted like idiots, bunching up at the door where they could easily have been killed. They broke it down before someone could have made their way from the bedroom to the front door, and then shot a guy because he had a weapon.

The ex-marine had previous encounters with the cops. He wasn’t an angel. But he also could have been given a search warrant without knocking his door down, or a group of armed men crowding his door. Based on his previous actions, a single cop in blue could have waited for an answer to the knock, and handed him the search warrant.

Since he had shown no aggression when stopped with marijuana in the car, do you really think he would have tried to kill a cop while his wife and son were nearby? For a search warrant that turned up a single handgun and a Border Patrol cap?

And thiso makes it OK for the cops to murder him, even if true? It’s somehow CRIMINAL to own multiple vehicles now?

Do you work for sheriff dupeprick or something? You’re revoltingly eager to tarnish the reputation of this dead Marine for some reason. Why?

If the federal government is letting illegal aliens gain citizenship by serving in our military and then letting them use their learned skills to do home invasions all over Arizona, what kind of training to you think local cops should receive since they are the only authority trying to handle the problem?

How many shots would you fire if you were the cop trying to serve a warrant on a marine with a gun who lives in a world where he expects other drug runners to do a home invasions on him, just like he does on others?

I’d like to meet the cop who would volunteer to risk his life to politely knock on the door to serve that warrant.

“If the federal government is letting illegal aliens gain citizenship by serving in our military and then letting them use their learned skills to do home invasions all over Arizona”

Poppycock! Your assertion is just stupid. There isn’t a band (or bands) of illegal alien devil worshiping ex-Marines doing home invasions all over Arizona. I live in Pima County, so take your paranoid delusions elsewhere!

“I’d like to meet the cop who would volunteer to risk his life to politely knock on the door to serve that warrant.”

Given that the ex-marine had been arrested on criminal charges before (and the charges dropped) without any attempt at violent resistance, ANY cop should be willing to do so - or be fired for cowardice! Damn it, I spent 25 years in the military. I’ve been shot at before, with less protection that what these wanna-be wimps had. In fact, I’ve been shot at by drunk idiots during hunting season with less protection than these pansies had.

Any cop making a traffic stop has as much justification to worry as the cop serving that warrant.

If the guy had been arrested on possible criminal charges before without ANY violence, then why would he suddenly offer some with his wife and son then put in mortal danger?

The SWAT team CREATED the problem, where none had existed before!

What if you’re wrong?

What if you hate cops so much that you’re not seeing the problem?

You are a piece of work, aren’t you?

1.) Though expedited citizenship is a perk for serving, ONLY LEGAL RESIDENT ALIENS MAY SERVE, END OF STORY. However, I believe it’s been shown that Mr. Guerena was born in Arizona.

2.) Only in your fervid imagination was Guerena such a criminal. The fact had come out that a relative OF THIS YOUNG MAN’S WIFE WAS KILLED IN A HOME INVASION, not that he, himself, committed such things. Please, bear in mind, you are NOT ALLOWED to make up “facts” to bolster your theories no matter how attractive the theory.

3.) It has been demonstrated that Mr. Guerena had had some contacts with police prior to the murder, during and after which he was cooperative and polite, offering ZERO threat or violence, AND WAS NOT ARRESTED OR OTHERWISE FOUND TO HAVE ENGAGED IN CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR. In other words, there was no LEGITIMATE REASON to believe he’d have been anything but cooperative if the cops had done the right thing the morning they murdered him and willfully endangered his family.

It is my considered opinion that you are a willful liar, attempting to smear the memory of this young Marine for reasons I cannot begin to fathom. You are offering up all this innuendo, all these “factettes” with zero credible evidence tying them to this murdered young man.

Admin, is there some way to compel TRUTH (or at least valid evidence) from someone before the rest of us begin OUR attacks on her, with just as much validity as hers on the late Mr. Guerena? I’m more than a little pissed but I will NOT cross the attack line without one final try at getting truth from this individual.

I’m sorry to have to be the one to disagree with you, but they were NOT “wannabe” wimps; they made the cut!!! And bigger ones you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere!

On a related note, I’d be interested in any theories you might have as to why this donna person MUST tear down and destroy Cpl Guerena.

One could THINK anything they like. However, if you start making accusations, best you be 100% SURE you know what you’re saying because I promise you, there will be consequences for your lies. And to my knowledge, you have been lying, AND DEMONSTRABLY SO, right from the get-go. Why... I haven’t a clue. Best guess is that you’ve some connection with Duprick, such as concubine or perhaps homosexual lover, which would explain your vitriol. In any case, your lies are glaring AND boring.

Just trying to cover all the bases before I feel constrained to use your behaviors. You know, innuendo and smearing and outright LYING about someone who’s dead and unable to defend himself. Dead ‘cause some faggotty cop-like creatures MURDERED HIM.

My guess is “Donna” is an RNC shill trying to do damage control. No use debating her...she has no points to debate. She’s slinging bs.

Hope whatever you’re making is worth pissing on the grave of an honorable marine who has done nothing. Bearing false witness brings some powerful bad karma which no amount of money will satisfy the wages of. And if I was his wife I’d sue posters like you for slander.

Gee Donna...think the marine could of been murdered because he was talking to investigators about crooked Pima county cops like these:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2730590/posts

Snip:
Unsealed court records allege that two former Pima County Sheriffs deputies worked together to pull over known drug traffickers to steal their money.

In the “superseding indictment” that was unsealed Thursday, prosecutors allege that then-Deputies Miguel Arvizu and Francisco Jimenez arranged to also provide “security” while others stole drugs and money from a storage facility in Green Valley.

Arvizu was a deputy for nearly seven years, from June 8, 2003, to when he resigned April 28, 2010. Jimenez was hired June 23, 2006, and resigned March 17, 2011.

The charges paint a picture of two allegedly corrupt deputies who ran drugs and stole the profits, according to the indictment.

In all, Arvizu is charged with eight counts that include theft of government money and attempted distribution of 3 kilograms of cocaine. Jimenez faces similar charges.

Snip...

Think Pima co LE leadership was in a panic driven hunt for leaks no matter where they may come from? Notice outside LE agencies conducted that investigation...not Pima co.

Do us and yourself all a favor...take your RNC political whore self on another thread. Most of us here have been following this case since the beginning and saw through your BS from post one. I have the feeling this case might blow up big. Marines don’t like when their kind are innocently murdered and I’m sure a legal fund will be forthcoming. Very quietly. They also don’t like political shills impugning the character in a libelous manner of above mentioned murdered marine on big traffic forums.

If the cops are corrupt, it doesn’t mean the marine is not corrupt.

It also doesn’t mean that the marine deserved being gunned down, execution style or deserved being denied emergency medical care.

If a SWAT team gets away with doing it to him, they *will* get away with doing it to you. How would you like it if you were the one lying there, and the SWAT team in your home let you bleed to death?
