INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indiana Supreme Court ruling this week is a timely, cautionary reminder for Hoosiers who plan to consume alcohol over the holiday weekend.

It is possible to be charged with public intoxication, even while in a vehicle with a designated driver.

Police had arrested an Indiana woman who was drunk in the passenger seat of a car. The Supreme Court ruled that a public intoxication charge can stand against people in a car on a public street...

I guess passengers will have to be like having a gun in Illinois - unloaded and locked in the trunk.

I like the euphemism. So true.

What if the partyboat operator has the same rule, but a live band is playing and there is a 25 dollar cover............

Is there a body of water in Indiana near a metropolitan area than can even sustain a party boat operation? As for the southern border, the boat could stay on the Kentucky side.

Here even more (if accurate):

“The defendant here, however, suffered no impingement of any alleged constitutional right to select which beverages to consume. She was subject to the public intoxication statute because of her conduct after consumption, not due to her beverage selection.”

This is one of the dumbest things I've seen from a PD in a long time.

They should be encouraging drunks to ride rather than drive.

Silly cops, stupid is for commies.

Perhaps now that the Indiana Supremes have themselves opined, in the same decision, that the legislature ought to clarify its intent in its ban on public drunkenness, the effort to get that law narrowed will succeed.

Wonder how many EXECUTIVE LIMOS and PLEASURE LIMOS the police will be pulling over?

I can assure you/guarantee that the MADD cows are in full support of this idiocy. Why? Because they are the modern version of Carrie Nation, and want ALL alcohol consumption outlawed.

Go look closely at their site (http://www.madd.org/) and tell me I’m wrong. They SAY it’s anti-drunk driving, but then they talk about teens, then alcoholism, and their scope just continues to expand constantly.

Yes, I know, I got caught commenting to the crowd....:)
MADD wants a BAC limit of .05 or less (instead of the .08)

The CDC wants a .05 standard or less worldwide
http://thenewprohibition.com/government-activists.cfm

Makes you ponder how unsustainable governments and agencies want to portray drinking alcohol, doesn’t it....makes it anti-UN Agenda21 for the US to have a BAC limit of .08.

“If we all lived in sustainable centers - we wouldn’t have to worry about drunk driving again” (Easy-Peasy)

This stuff runs deep and it’s all connected.....
