NORTH POINT, FL (WFLX) - Florida police are investigating a high school principal who hypnotized three students who later died.
Dr. George Kenney admitted to hypnotizing a 16-year-old boy who committed suicide one day after a private session.
Kenney hypnotized two other students who died tragically; one took her own life and another died in a car crash.
Kenney claims the students were happy to be hypnotized.
Many were taking part in competitive sports, and, he said, the hypnosis helped them focus.
I know zilch about hypnosis. I’ve read that a person under hypnosis can not be made to do anything which they would refuse to do while not under hypnosis, such as commit a crime, etc.
Is that true.
Nobody dies from being hypnotized. Something else happened here. Autopsy and chemical analysis is needed.
One of the links above show that this guy was selling a book(?), or a video (?) through Amazon purposting to help young baseball players “focus”. This is really creepy.
I always wanted to be hypnotized and to learn to do it to myself.
“The Fourth Kind Part Two”
A high school principal uses hypnosis to open doors for evil spirits.
Kids will love the movie.
Just saying.
Anybody else heard of the "silent witness" theory?
Most of my life I was a hypnotism skeptic, until we had group classes for several weeks to learn self-hynosis. I was sure I would fail.
I am no longer a skeptic.
My Air Force boss went to the state fair 25 years ago in Arizona. He went on stage and within 15 minutes all of the “players” were doing the stupidest stuff. He turned into Huey Lewis. He showed us the tape. This guy had a very bashful demeanor in his private life but he got a kick out of all of it.
Not funny.
It does. I have a long-time friend who is a doctor and a hypnotherapist, and she’s one of the best in the region. She says that hypnosis is basically the process of hacking a human’s “operating system” down to the boot sector, and it’s no business for amateurs. This guy should be run out of town on a rail for his fatal folly.
But maybe they weren't happy to have been hypnotized.”
Very good point. Especially for teenagers where peer pressure can destroy a fragile ego.
“It would have been ethically and morally wrong for the hypnotist to encourage bizarre behavior even for fun. You never know who youre dealing with. “
I totally agree. That is why I would never perform stage hypnosis, even though I am trained to do it. I learned the techniques just to gain further understanding into consciousness patterns.
“Is that true?”
That is not true. There are different techniques for hypnotizing difficult subjects who say they cannot be hypnotized. But anyone can be hypnotized.
I will say that it is much easier to hypnotize someone who is willing.
Once hypnotized, the depth of the person determines their willingness to follow your suggestions. These suggestions can be followed, even in post hypnotic state.

A friend of mine who is a professional hypnotist works with professional sports teams to increase ability. It works very well. He has worked with most of the New York City pro teams.
Very true. That is one of the best descriptions I have ever heard.
Having an MD or PhD does not guarantee that a person is a good hypnotist. Even Freud was a bad hypnotist. He ran into the same problem as many bad therapists. Using hypnosis, it is easy to program false memories. Many daughters falsely remembered being molested by their fathers after bad hypnosis by therapists using directive questioning.
Thanks for that info. I have another question for you.
“Once hypnotized, the depth of the person determines their willingness to follow your suggestions.”
What do you mean by the depth of the person?
Thanks.
There are many levels, depending upon which scale you use. It’s like cutting a pie. How many poieces do you want?
Commonly, there are six levels recognized. They are:
1) Eye catalepsy First level
2) Arm and hand catalepsy Second level Small muscle group catalepsy
3) All muscle groups catalepsy
Aphasia (name or number block)
4) All of the above phenomena +
Analgesia (light anesthesia)
Positive olfactory and gustatory hallucinations
Amnesia through strong direct suggestion Pseudo-age regression
Automatic writing
5) All of the above +
Post-hypnotic amnesia without suggestion Anesthesia
Positive hallucinations of all sensory perception
Age regression
6) All of the above +
Negative sensory hallucinations
Anyone can reach stage 5 or 6, which are the somambolistic levels. It just takes some extra work with many people.
Thanks.
Could have been screwing with more than their minds.
