Official Calls For Riverside, 12 Other Counties To Secede From California Link to Article and Poll
New state would have no term limits, part-time legislature
July 1, 2011 10:24 AM
RIVERSIDE (CBS) Is the state of California about to go South?
Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone apparently thinks so, after proposing that the county lead a campaign for as many as 13 Southern California counties to secede from the state.
Stone said in a statement late Thursday that Riverside, Imperial, San Diego, Orange, San Bernardino, Kings, Kern, Fresno, Tulare, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa and Mono counties should form the new state of South California.
The creation of the new state would allow officials to focus on securing borders, balancing budgets, improving schools and creating a vibrant economy, he said.
Our taxes are too high, our schools dont educate our children well enough, unions and other special interests have more clout in the Legislature than the general public, Stone said in his statement.
He unveiled his proposal on the day Gov. Jerry Brown signed budget legislation that will divert about $14 million in 2011-12 vehicle license fee revenue from four new Riverside County cities.
Officials fear the cut will cripple the new cities of Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Menifee and Wildomar.
Stone said he would present his proposal to the Board of Supervisors July 12.
The new state would have no term limits, only a part-time legislature and limits on property taxes.
Imagine the change in states’ votes if Nevada could vote minus Clark County, Utah could vote minus Salt Lake County, Missouri could vote without KC and St Louis, Colorado could vote without Denver/Boulder, etc.
Only if the existing legislator of Califorina can be convinced to vote to approve their admission to the union as a new State.
Otherwise I would presume Southern California either becomes an independent Nation of the world or a territory of Califorina.
This goes through, I might seriously consider moving back. (Native as well)
Even Maryland minus Baltimore, Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties would be tolerable.
Imagine the benefit if the Federal tyrants in black robes did not arbitrary decide to rob every state of its republican senate 50 years ago. (Reynolds v. Sims, 1964)
Then Leftist urban areas would not be able to force the rest of the state to slavishly serve them.
They’re not going to let you leave.
They need your tax money too badly.
The poll is at 89% to secede, and this is an authentic internet poll, this looks like a done deal, start investing in the real estate.
South California telling Congress to stuff it would be a very interesting event. SCOTUS would have to take the case
I guess they could make the case since Congress DOESN'T follow the Constitution in many regards,(like securing the border) why should they follow Article IV, Section 3 ?
Of course they can probably pay off the California legislation for approval. Those scumbags would sell them off in a heartbeat for cash
Fifty years away from American History in High School, I seem to remember that both Texas and California came into the Union as free countries which made treaties wiht the United States including provisions that Texas could be divided into as many as five states, and California divided into as many as three, (or maybe it was the other way around). Anyway, my understanding is that ratified treaties have status equal to the Constitution, so I personally doubt that there is a constitutional argument at all. How these divisions were to be made, when and if made, is probably in the treaties. My guess is it would require the approval of the California legislature. It might not require the approval of the U.S. Congress unless that is what the treaty says. California historians, what do you think?
Damn good ideal. Those counties are supporting the millions of illegals in the urban counties.
GREAT we Northerners can triple charge for all the water the southerners use and cut off their supply completely when we have a drought instead of suffering through Southern drought problems while the water heads south so desert communities can continue watering their lawns. I hope the cutoff is San Francisco south!
california was a republic...so they have historic ability to re republic-ize(I coin a word)....then join the union if they like...
if it were my republic...I would wait till the current scum is out of Washington, before considering statehood.
of course I totally make outrageous assumptions so keep your flames to yourself...thanks in advance.
Plus illegals, weeeee anyone coming North of SF gets a 12 guage that even looks arab or ummm that other country , all get carded and shipped back billed to mexico, if no sale they get sent to Washington DC!
A few years ago a friend made the observation about the LA area: It’s a damn shame to waste this wonderful climate on these fools!
FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)
Interesting proposal. I wonder where South California will get their water from since we in the North would divert the Aqueduct for our own use.
The water shipped from the north to the south goes to their fellow comrades in LA which would be part of CommieCal.
Kern and Mono counties (SoCal, not to be confused with SocialistCal) have half of Los Angeles' water.

Heck, Congress won't even break up the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ask West Virginia.
