DETROIT (AP) U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter will make a "major announcement" Saturday about whether he will run for president in next year's election, a person familiar with the plans said Thursday.
McCotter's office said Thursday that the 45-year-old will be the keynote speaker Saturday at a festival in Whitmore Lake.
"He's going to make a major announcement at that event," the person, who is in contact with the Livonia congressman, told The Associated Press.

Fine with me. Another Conservative running to bash the hell out of Newt, Mittens and Dullsman. Should be fun.
He’d certainly liven things up. He’s got a quick wit. I don’t think many people know who he is, though.
Who
I’ve sure never heard of him...but now I know who he is-—good for him!

I love Rep McCotter! He is a good conservative man...and he is funny as hell! He won’t hesitate to pound Obozo! The more the merrier doing that.
He’s been on my radar for some time as a solid VP candidate.
Anyone who goes on Redeye is all right with me.

McCotter isn’t as conservative as people think he is. He only has a lifetime rating of 84% by the American Conservative Union.

Saw him play that guitar on Huckabee Saturday night, last. He can pick pretty darned good. And you’re right he has a quick whit.
Yeah, I know. The union support thing. I would still take him over 50% of the GOP field.
McCotter is the smartest man in any room he walks into, not a movie star, but an intellect .
The media will spike him as a noname GOP’er unworthy of mention, because he smarter than a PHD from Harvard, and will blow Obama of any stage.
He is worth a look, even if Geithner has more hair.
Who will have the lesser affect: Huntsman or McCotter?
Personally I think he’s just raising his profile for a senate run against Stabenow.
Conservatives aren’t likely to be real tolerant of a pro union republican right now.
For what its worth I like the guy and agree with him on most things.
I welcome any conservative to the discussion. In that sense Huntsman has the lesser effect on the race.
