I disagree strongly on the Numbers USA one-issue of immigration.

The worst is their stand on birthright citizenship. If moma’s strong and determined enough to deliver on US soil, then that says a lot about her backbone and ability. It’s almost as if, looking at nations built of immigrants, there’s a “survival of the fittest principle. The ones that stay home are weaker and less successful. (how do we Americans give our own children a similar challenge, since we have no new frontiers to conquer?)

However, if moma’s not a legal immigrant, she must be deported and her minor children belong with her. They absolutely must make a decision between the countries between 18 and 25, in my opinion. ( even all those with dual US/Israeli citizenship!)

The hard question comes from children - especially the Mexicans- who have been raised in the US, gone through and graduated from our public schools because of our past failures to enforce immigration laws. Do we want to deport them, creating an angry, alienated population in Mexico?

Or could we expect them to declare and follow through on a determination to become US citizens, make good grades in college, get and keep a job, and/or enter the military? I keep hoping that parents would push their child toward this option the same way some push sports for college.

We were duped before 25 years ago during the Reagan amnesty. We cannot afford to be duped again. Did you know that the Mexican population doubled between the years of 1970 and 2000? They used to be 50 million and now they are above 100 million. They have a highly disfunctional culture and we are paying for it. We are paying for their ILLEGAL social programs and their crimes and the school kids who are not supposed to be here.

Personally, I would rather spend my compassion on my granddaughters who are 8 and 2 years old. I feel sorry for them because the country they will inherit will be nothing like the country that we were fortunate to have grown up in.

The children of illegal aliens who came here at a young age should contact an immigration lawyer. That is what they are there for. We cannot be involving ourselves in the intricacies of all of the lives of the MILLIONS of illegals who have invaded our country in the past twenty years. It is their problem let them figure it out. Have you heard of compassion fatigue? You know what, after they destroy our childrens’ future they will have absolutely no compassion for them.
