Rick Perry, the Texas Governor presiding over a state which has created more jobs than all the other 49 states combined since the recovery began, is currently receiving a ground swell of support to get into the presidential race.
Thursday, a local New Hampshire news outlet reported that Perry, despite never visiting the state or announcing his candidacy, is receiving the most buzz in that key primary battleground. (Perry gains on Romney in new poll; Bachmann also rising)
The New Hampshire Union Leader reported that Perry and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann are the two Republicans generating the most buzz in New Hampshire GOP circles as the summer heats up.
According Perrys political advisor, David Carney, he has been surprised and intrigued by the amount of support even after strongly denying reports earlier in the month from The Wall Street Journal that Perry had already decided to run.
Of course this organic wellspring of encouragement is a positive factor as we go thought this assessment process, Carney told TheDC in an email. Our due diligence process will proceed as planned.
The Union Leader notes that the Perry campaign will assemble in the next several weeks to go over the data and make a decision.
But were still in the data collection stage, Carney said. In the coming weeks, we will present this information to the governor and hell make his decision.

Good. Draft him. Perry is my pick at this point.
Mine as well unless Palin gets into the race. Then there’s Cain who I also like...a good VP for one of them.
I think we should draft his hair and leave him in Austin.
Sorry. I’m from Texas. It’s been hard enough having him for governor.
It seems most Texans don’t agree with you. He has been elected for a 3rd term.
LOL. Bill White vs. Rick Perry. That would be like a boxing match between Pee-Wee Herman and a dead hamster then declaring Herman a powerful fighter.
The only reason Medina didn’t win the primary was because she was an idiot and didn’t keep her mouth shut. She could have won had she just stood there and said, “I wanna be governor.”
Trans-Texas corridor. Look it up.
You must feel special joining the other two dozen or so Perry bashers here on FR. I will give you one thing...you are persistent with your message...much like the gay community...small in numbers but constantly making noise far in proportion to your small numbers!
Medina was never gonna win IMO, regardless of what she did or did not say.
I’m a state and local indirect tax specialist (for 15 years). If you ever actually had to work with the Comptroller, legislators and the governor’s office, you would discover what really goes on in Austin.
I don’t care if I’m the only one on FR who knows exactly what Perry is, I’m not going to let people believe bull and drive on just because that’s what the majority believes in their sweet little heart of hearts.
For instance, Perry’s recent veto of the law tightening the definition of nexus for sales tax purposes was a ridiculous political move that could have had serious implications locally, had the legislature not revived it in special session. His claim that the issue needed “more review” is a load of crap. This issue has been debated for longer than I’ve been in the business (can there be attributional nexus for indirect taxes and what are the standards) and more talk won’t do anything to resolve the issue. Congress will not act and the courts shouldn’t legislate (which is exactly what Perry’s move would have effected). Either the states act on the issue or it just sits in limbo. Perry’s veto is just another of many examples of his inability to lead when it has the potential of forcing him to take any position that may be considered negative by anyone.
Perry is a savvy politician who knows how to make popular decisions and rewrite history when his decisions become unpopular. He is an excellent classic politician who knows how to act in his own personal best interest. If that’s what you want to lead this country, knock yourself out.
