A grenade exploded outside of Reynosas city hall early Tuesday, but reportedly no one was injured.
Two explosive devices were thrown by unknown individuals near the Reynosa city hall about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, said a Mexican law enforcement official, who added that only one of the devices exploded.
Authorities quickly responded to the area to conduct the necessary investigations and to try to identify those responsible for the attack, he said. The official wouldnt comment on whether members of organized crime were behind the attack or if the grenade was thrown as a message or as a way to discredit the new military force that arrived in the city to replace the municipal police.
On June 2, 10 civilians were injured when a grenade was thrown at a bus stop near the LG Plant in Reynosa.
The following day, a grenade was thrown along Calle Benito Juarez near a municipal police substation. It left none injured but caused three civilians to have nervous breakdowns.
In the days prior, one person was injured when another grenade was thrown near the intersection of Calle Michoacan and Calle Morelos near the entrance to the municipal police building.
